Ok so I know we are all obviously NBA fans but I think most of us in here are just hoops fans in general.
I know this is totally off topic but I have to tell someone other than my wife and buddy who could care less about hoops.
A little back ground first.
Two years ago we moved to a different part of town in Spokane, and my daughter changed schools.
Obviously she knew I was a huge Sonics fan and one of the boys there talked about how his dad knows some of the Sonics. Come to find out her new little friend's dad played for the UW back during the late 80's/90's. Now his Dad lives in Portland and isn't around a whole lot.
Anyway I'm a hoops junkie and this little kid with a huge head was just a really, sweet, nice kid. He'd come over and watch the Sonics sometimes or the All-Star game with me. Read my SLAM magazines.
About a year later I went to one of his 7th grade AAU games. Come to find out kid is really really good. He's one of the biggest kids on the floor and he could have been playing PG. Even in the 7th grade you can just tell this kid has all the tools to be an exceptional player.
Who knows how far he will go but his mom has him playing the AAU circuit and even though he is in the 8th grade now he is invited to go run with the local high school team on Sunday's.
But anyway this is the part that I have to tell someone. He is about 5'10" now and has grown into his head and yesterday before his AAU game he DUNKED.
Obviously it wasn't a Shawn Kemp rim rocker but the fact the kid is in the 8th grade dunking is pretty nuts.
Anyway I got all excited about it, and had to tell someone.
