I maybe jumping ahead of myself but Im calling it anyways. In 2 years we will see a LBJ vs KD rivalry. On one side you got a supremely athletic greek statue, and on the other you side you got yourself a classic 1970's prototypical basketball player. One punishes you with his driving abilities, the other punishes you with his shooting abilities. This could be the closest match up that represents New School vs Old School.

I think it could definitely turn into a rivalry if (hopefully) they meet in the finals at some point. But shy of that, I think Durant and Lebron just happen to be two of the best young players and have little interest in one another.

I don't really see the new school/old school thing... Lebron is definitely a unique player, but he probably gets just as many comparisons to former stars as Durant.

But in any case, yeah, rivalries are always a lot of fun to see... adds another element to the game. Durant and Lebron have to be fighting for something before it happens though, there's no animosity (or even opposing goals) between them at this point.

I only see this happening if the Thunder become an elite team that could challenge LeBron's team (still Cleveland?) in the postseason in two years. I think that it would take longer for this to happen though. In any case the strength of their respective teams would be important for a legitimate rivalry to occur.

KD and Bron are friends... there is bound to be some sort of rivalry.

I actually see more of a rivalry between KD and Melo.
