It actually costs them much more than simply Green and the #4.
Because when Bosh gets extended of his current contract he is going to be making an insane amount of money.
Yes Bosh is obviously by far the best player in this deal. But when Green is making 3.4mil, 4.5mil and 5.9mil over the next three years and Bosh will be making 15.8mil, 17.1mil, 18.6mil, and it continues to go up. That's a little difference in 37.7mil more you have to pay for Bosh over the next three years.
Or another way you can put it 12.1mil a year.
OKC is not NY.
Green averaged 17pts and 7rebs last year, not bad numbers for a second year player.
Bosh averaged 23pts and 10rebs. Fantastic numbers.
But Green is only in his second year would it shock anyone to see his numbers get a little better?
Would one more bucket and one more board be out of the question?
So is 19pts and 8rebs be too big of a stretch to see Green reach?
So then you have to ask yourself is 37.7mil worth paying for about 4pts and 2rebs a game over the next three years, along with giving up a top 5 pick?
As an owner in a small market there is no way I'd give up that much coin for 4 to 5 points a game and a couple rebounds.
I'd rather take that extra coin and throw it at Ben Gordon, keep the pick and hang on to Green instead of simply putting it all in Bosh's bank account.
Then you have to take into account that during Bosh's extension both Durant and Westbrook will be free agents. Think Durant is going to be looking to get the max? And yes OKC is going to offer him max money to try to keep him there. OKC is simply not the kind of market that can afford three max contracts so see ya later Westbrook. OKC can't afford you anymore.
Bosh's extended contract is a team wrecker for a small market team.
Is Bosh a nice player? Absolutely, but the bottom line OKC can afford other pieces after they pay Bosh that kind of money.
Look at the T-Wolves, what kind of job did they do surrounding KG with talent after he got his 20mil contract?
Bosh=too expensive.
Now can we please let this Bosh to OKC simply die?
