Early Starting Lineup Projections for the Thunder

Post#1 » by JO_CB_FTW » Wed May 6, 2009 11:09 pm

Though the draft hasn’t officially gone underway, I will project the starting lineup and depth chart for the Oklahoma Thunder assuming no player will go anywhere and the roster stays the same.

Chucky will be gone too, just because a huge reason they traded for him is that his contract is only like 10% guaranteed for next season...

Watson will most likely be gone also, but it would take a trade to pull that off. I know it was said that "assuming no move is made and the roster stays the same" though...

No way that Weaver takes the starting spot back from Thabo. Everyone loved the way Thabo played as the starter at the end of the season.

Why would Green be on the bench as a SF and have White starting at the four?!?

Those last two things kind of make me wonder if the person writing the projection even looked at any box scores from the Thunder last season. Let alone watched a game... Any ideas why the weird projections??

if the thunder draft thabeet will thabo continue to start? that's basically two starters that teams won't have to worry about offensively..

i do agree he starts over weaver, though.

in any event it's kinda pointless since the roster will probably have some significant changes.

Yeah, I agree, and projection of a lineup for most teams at this point is fairly pointless.

As far as Thabo if Thabeet is in the lineup, I've gotta agree on that too. Unless Thabo or Westbrook is able to add a LOT of consistency to their jump shot, that would be a pretty bad offensive lineup. Great on D, and a lot of guys that I like to watch play, but you can't win being that bad on one end of the floor generally.

They have to pickup an outside shooter in the off season... whether it's with their late first round pick or through other means. Plus, if we do draft Thabeet, we can gamble a bit with a weak perimeter defender/shooting specialist. Perhaps someone like Budinger (who is predicted to go anywhere from 12 to 22!), Wayne Ellington, or Marcus Thorton.

Definitely man. We at least need some solid/consistent shooting coming off of the bench. I think that Durant/Green/Westbrook have enough scoring ability to make the starting lineup work, but we seriously needed a decent perimeter scorer off of the bench last season.
