Love-Green
On the Timberwolves board a poster suggested a trade based on Love + 6 for Green + 3. Thoughts?

Re: Love-Green
Not a terrible idea if OKC is definitely interested in DeRozan rather than Harden since he will probably be gone at that point. Love is your typical PF rather than Green playing out of position.
Krstic / Collison
Love / DJ
Durant
Thabo / DeRozan
Westbrook / Livingston
plus another pick in there looks really nice for OKC next year.

don't think it's worth it. love is definitely more of a pf than green, but i don't think his value is that much higher. not a fan of derozan, either. i'd just stick with harden.

I'll be the 2nd to agree with ya slick. don't see why we trade down 3 significant spots when the two players' value is pretty similar.

If Prest loves someone that he could draft with the #5 I'd have a hard time turning this down.

I think Green will be fine at the 4 as he gets stronger and more experienced. I think we can eventually have what the Magic have right now with Turkoglu and Lewis at the 3 and 4 creating mismatches offensively.

Re: Love-Green
Just for comparison:
Love this season (rookie):
11.1 pts
9.1 reb
.46 FG
25 mpg
Green this season:
16.5 pts
6.7 reb
.44 FG
36 mpg
I like Green, but give definitely give Love the edge. I'm actually not in favor of this trade myself, but can understand its appeal for being mostly equal and balancing out both rosters.

Re: Love-Green
i wouldn't do the trade, but let's not kid ourselves. kevin love's rookie year was more impressive than green's rookie and sophomore years. love will almost assuredly be a double-double machine at the four position and has potential to be a knock down shooter from 18 feet as well. he's got more length than jeff green so is able to body up on power forwards a lot better.
i think green's value as a small forward or potential sixth man is very high, but at the power forward position kevin love blows him out of the water.

Green eventually will have to be traded because he'll never be a true 4. But hell no to trading him for Love. Love is what he is a double double guy and thats fine but not much more upside, Green stall has the potential to be an all-star if he can ever be on a team where he can play his natural position. Green is much much more valuable than Love because of his potential. And hell no to moving down 3 spots.

strait up I'd consider this.... but adding in the picks seems stupid to me.
Love may be a better PF, but Green will be the better, more versatile NBA player by far.

Re: Love-Green
I don't understand why people have their panties in a bunch just because of the #3 and #6
1. LAC - Blake
2. MEM - Thabeet (it appears)
BPA
3. Rubio - OKC has westbrook, too small to form a backcourt with Russ as the starting 2.
4. Harden - obviously a solid fit for OKC but the 3 BPA in the draft are worth much more than Harden.
You figure if this trade happened
3. MIN - Rubio.
4. SAC - Holliday? they need a PG desperately.
5. WAS - TRADE (Hill is available so you figure this pick gets traded to someone that needs a PF.)
6 OKC -
There has been talks about OKC being interested in DeRozan. He'll be there at 6. Evans will be there probably.
Krstic
Love
Durant
Evans
Westbrook
They also have the 18 and 28 picks and I doubt they keep all 3 so I'm sure they could offer more as well.

Re: Love-Green
I just read that the Wolves are really keen on Thabeet. ...I would wonder why when they have Love and Jefferson play as thier bigs..... Sounds like the same issue we have with Green and Durant - too much talent at one position. Perhaps this rumor actually has some traction?

Re: Love-Green
I invented this trade idea, so you all can just blame me. I just want to see if I can change any of your minds on the topic (even though it will have absolutely no impact on anything whatsoever). Don’t worry though; I’m not going to be a **** who will accuse you of being irrational fan if you don’t agree with me. Trust me, we had enough of that from Chicago fans who still believe Hinrich for Miller and #6 is somehow fair.
The only way the trade can be considered fair is if Kevin Love is the better fit, but more importantly if Kevin Love is believed to have more potential than Jeff Green because obviously 3>6. Well, three isn’t bigger than six, but it does have more value in the NBA.
I would argue Kevin Love is the better fit than Jeff Green. Kevin Love’s natural position is power forward and was called upon to play center when Al Jefferson became injured. Jeff Green on the other hand would arguably be better suited as a small forward but he is often forced to play power forward. As an added bonus, Kevin Love has one more year on his rookie contract, saving the Thunder cash in the future. More importantly, Jeff Green is two years older than Kevin Love.
Kevin Love
PPG 11.1 RPG 9.1 APG 1
MPG 25.3 SPG .4 TO 1.46
FG% .459 3P% .105 FT% .789
Jeff Green
PPG 10.5 RPG 4.7 APG 1.5
MPG 28.2 SPG .6 TO 1.98
FG% .427 3P% .276 FT% .744
I think the best way to compare talent is just based on their rookie seasons as they averaged around the same minutes per game, so it’s a fairly good measurement. I excluded PF’s and BPG since they were the same anyway. Kevin Love who again is two years younger and played a little bit less than Green averaged more points and rebounds in addition to a higher FG% and FT%. Green on the other hand averaged more APG, a better 3 point average, and has a slight advantage in SPG. I should also note Greens turnover percentages need improvement.
Now I’m going for a different angle. Here are Kevin Love’s rookie season accomplishments versus Jeff Green’s sophomore accomplishments.

Again, just want to emphasize this is a comparing the two in the 08-09 season. Nothing really stands out with Jeff Green. Furthermore, everything can be directly attributed to the fact he has another year of experience and played 36.8 minutes per game (which is ranked #26 in the NBA) In all honesty though, his turnovers per game leads to a lot of questions over his ball handling abilities. Even though Kevin Love played 25.3 MPG as a rookie, he led the NBA in one category and is among the best in the NBA in several others. It isn’t too far fetched to believe that Kevin Love can lead the league in rebounding for several years.

Re: Love-Green
Honestly I feel like Love has more potential than Jeff Green (I like Jeff but I feel like what he has shown so far will be close to his ceiling - not bad at all though) and he would clearly be a better fit since he is a natural 4 and is a great rebounder and can provide some more toughness downlow. And like I said in the other post, there are still many options at 6 that can help OKC out. OKC may not be able to land Harden at 6 but Evans could be just as effective, you never know with this draft. Sam Presti could also go for the homerun and draft my favorite other than Ricky Rubio in DeMar DeRozan. Although if he is set on Russ at the point, Evans or Harden may be the better fit.

It's an alright deal for both sides, the pick exchange kind of kills it for me though. Wouldn't do it, but definitely wouldn't complain if it went down

Re: Love-Green
After the MN-WAS trade, this might make more sense for both teams:
Love + #5 for Green + #3
I could really see the draft going
1. LAC - Griffin
2. MEM - Thabeet
3. MN - Rubio
4. SAC - Evans
5. OKC - Harden
6. MN - DeRozan
OKC fills their PF slot (and balances the roster) and still gets Harden (at a cheaper price).
MN gets Rubio as the PG for the future and Green to balance the roster. DeRozan fills out the backcourt.
Seems like a fair trade for both teams.

i'd do it in a second but i think minnesota's really high on love and won't trade him.
