Thunder vs Kings POG

Post#1 » by wizkid27 » Thu Oct 29, 2009 2:51 am

Well... the team gave us some pretty solid performances to start off the season picking the player of the game. You know the drill... I provide some high level stats (with players in no particular order), you use your very educated opinion to decide which player earns the award.

Tonight... the starters all stepped up big and provided a lot of varied skills to the game... which mattered most?

Player (Points/rebounds/assists)

Durant (25/11/4)
Green (24/8/2)
Westbrook (14/7/13)
Sefolosha (8/5/1)
Krstic (20/7/0)

For me the incredibly tough choice comes down to Westbrook vs Green. Green was dominant on offense and couldn't miss from outside (and also took a couple of nice charges) on the other side Westbrook looked like an entirely different player... he was under control, a stupidly good 13 assists and 2 TOs while not being out of control and still scoring and rebounding pretty well.

Westbrook and Green definately played well tonight and it showed against the Kings. Aggression, leadership, cohesiveness, and consistancy are all important ingrediants(sp) of bball.

I'm in favor of Westbrook 2nite. His 13 assist shows that he knew where to get the ball to his teammates so they can knock down their shots. His aggression with the rebounds was a plus for the Thunder as well. And he was able to contribute on the scoring end as well. Good start to the opener for the Thunder for this game.

If OKC had a big who could finish strong under the rim Russ would have had 15-16 assists today. Lots of those FT attempts by Krstic were finishable looks, and Etan Thomas blew a couple easy ones as well.

Green was great and actually looked improved defensively too, but Westbrook really ran the offense, looked like a completely different player.

I think eventually one of DJ White or Serge Ibaka will supplant Collison in the lineup, and he will be traded this offseason.

I think Green was the most dominant player out there for you guys. He was playing at a high level. Hitting from the outside and from the inside too. Very excellent offensive combo to have from a SF/PF player. He was your guys' catalyst all night.

Westbrook is a very close second though. He dictated the tempo very good. Got players involved and got himself well in the offensive game. Hitting jumpers and being aggressive too.

Westbrook is looked like a veteran PG in his prime. Gets my vote.
