2010 FA...Maybe???

Post#1 » by Durantist » Tue Nov 17, 2009 9:32 am

This maybe a reach but Lebron James could and should sign with OKC!
Reasons:
1.There are 7 teams that will have cap space for the upcoming 2010 FA: NJ, NY, MIA, CHI, MIN, OKC, LAC
2.History shows that you can't win on your own! LBJ needs a "Superstar" sidekick!
3.Out of those 7 teams you have 2 Superstars (Wade and KD, maybe Rose)
4.I just don't see LBJ teaming up with Wade due to the fact that if he does win with Wade, the Spotlight n Glory isn't all his. Basically he won't be considered as THE MAN or the CHOSEN ONE!
5.Signing with CHI casts the Jordan shadow on him. Lebron wants his own Legacy, his own Banners next to his OWN banners!
6.Winning NOW wise lets scratch out NJ, NY, MIN, and the Clippers (LAC are good but they're the Clippers)
OK now lets roleplay...you are LBJ. You see these KD highlights throughout the 2009 season and you see OKC have made the playoffs with such a young team lead by a 21 year old averaging 28 and 8. And lets say KD drops about two 40 point games in the playoffs but loses in the 1st round due to the fact they dont have a floor manager/court leader to get them to the next level, kind of like Melo before Billups, but you witnessed KD's ability to cause so many mismatches and how KD doesn't really need the ball in his hands to be an effective scorer!
LBJ's mind: Damn if i team up with this kid we will be hands down the best DUO for the next 5 years minimum! AND i will be considered as the MAN cause KD is still a baby.
BTW if LBJ goes to OKC, he avoids playing Dwight Howard in the Eastern Playoffs ;)

Um, sorry if Lebron leaves Cleveland for less money (it'd be less since Cleveland can offer the extra year and bigger raises), he is not going to OKC which is a bottom fourth media market in the NBA.

Of the big free agents, Chris Bosh is probably the only realistic target, but that's unlikely IMO even.

LBJ isn't leaving Home for OKC. But, Bosh, Amare, Boozer and myabe even Yao make sense for this team. They need a low post presence. All of these players give the team that. I aggree it would not be ideal to bring in Boozer but he is a low post presence that will get you 15/10. OKC is a team which is primed to have the next 10 seasons of playoff basketball.

With this group of Core players watch out!
PF Green
SF Durant
SG Harden
PG Westbrook
SG/SF Sefolosha

Plus they have Youngsters like:
PF Serge Ibaka
C B.J. Mullens
PF D.J. White
SG Kyle Weaver
2 - 1st round picks next season

Savy Vets: (These guys are laying down the foundation and will not get mid-level deals. It might make sense for both the player and the team to come back cheap.)
C Nenad Krstic
PF Etan Thomas
PF Nick Collison
PG Kevin Ollie

Okay i understand the whole max contract, hometown, and even the marketing scenerios, but lets be honest...if Lebron's number 1 priority is to win multiple Championships then why not team up with the next best thing for years to come. If Lebron falls short of a ring this year then I strongly believe that he gets it, he can't win it on his own. If the opportunity presents itself then why not go for it even though its OKC. Let the winning do all the talking and not the media hype. Plus Cleveland can always do a sign and trade with OKC for its young core. I would definitely give up 2 of OKC's young pieces for Lebron. Maybe like a Westbrook and Jeff Green for Lebron. I don't see Cleveland and Lebron getting a better offer anywhere else. My point is, trying my best to stay away from a homer opinion, is that if I were Lebron I would choose KD as my running mate.

Just curious, but how is it that playing with Durant (and therefore sharing the championship with him) would be different than with Wade? I think a lot of people around here would like to say that in a couple of years Durant will be at Wade's level, and if that's the case, wouldn't LeBron just go to a place where Wade is from his draft class, with a similar timeline, etc?

Just wondering...

I think his two options are basically stay at home and try to win there while getting the biggest deal possible OR go to the big market team which makes the best pitch.

After this season is over we can all agree that Wade is the established Superstar and better player over KD worldwide. Its sad but true that half of the world doesn't really know how good KD is. I live in LA and I deal with Laker fans everyday and even they don't even know the gameplay and bright upside of KD. It ticks me off that most people believe that DROSE n BROY are better franchise players than KD. This is probably due to the fact that OKC doesn't get any nationally televised games and KD hasn't made the all-star team yet. So if Lebron goes to OKC then problem solved! OKC gets nationally televised games and KD finally gets the respect he deserves from ALL fans not just fantasy basketball owners ;)
