Would you trade Westbrook straight up for Rose?

Rose is not 100% right now, but Westbrook's numbers overall are as good if not better than Rose's so far this season. Rose has better career numbers, but they both have a lot of potential for the future. All things considered, what say you?

Russell Westbrook
This Season:
15.8 PPG
4.7 RPG
7.2 APG
3.42 TO
1.17 SPG
.426 FG%
.346 3P%

Derrick Rose
This Season:
14.0 PPG
2.7 RPG
5.5 APG
2.82 TO
1.0 SPG
.439 FG%
.000 3P% (0-4)

Russell Westbrook
Career:
15.4 PPG
4.8 RPG
5.5 APG
3.35 TO
1.32 SPG
.402 FG%
.284 3P%

Derrick Rose
Career:
16.5 PPG
3.8 RPG
6.2 APG
2.53 TO
.84 SPG
.471 FG%
.211 3P%

Probably, Rose is hurt right now so his numbers haven't been too great. He understands the position better than Russ and they are similar athletically.

This comparison is definitely much closer now than it was at any time last year, though. I could pretty much go either way. Says a lot about how far Westbrook has come I guess.

100% Yes! Rose is a Point Guard and Russ isn't. I know Russ may have nice PG numbers but please do not be fooled by the numbers. A majority of his assists come from direct line passes to Nenad which is made by the Centers dropping low on defense to protect the paint in which a Center usually does. These are the type of assists that most combo guards can make and only make. Ive seen it in Mo Williams, Jason Terry and Larry Hughes just to name a few. To be honest Russ' court vision and clock management is horrible! Watch Russ run a fastbreak, if there's a D-Fish type of defender back on Defense, Russ will probably get called for a charge. Most PGs, will draw a defender, shift them to commit then make the right decision, and Rose is beautiful on a break. There have been so many positions where there is a fastbreak opportunity but Russ doesn't see it. His head just isn't looking across the floor. Question, how many outlet passes have u seen Russ throw??? Watch Durant after a defensive board by Russ, he's usually leaking with his arms up!!! If I were a PG and I see that Durant has a 1 on 1 opportunity I will give it up. So right now Im just praying that Russ can learn to become an okay PG. Stats say yes, but his actions on the floor say no.

All good points; Russell Westbrook definitely has more of a 'score' mentality than 'facilitate' when it comes to breaks and he does get many assists on pick and pop kind of plays. I think his court vision has definitely improved over last year and his problem there can be partially attributed to how fast he plays the game. When things slow down further for him, especially on the break, I think he'll be more consistent.

We'll know more as the year goes on..

A better question is, would you guys trade Westbrook and Sefolosha for Rose?

I would say that right now Westbrook is playing well enough that you don't make the trade.

I'm buying the flight ticket for Russel if the trade is available.
I like Westbrook, but his main asset (his D IMO) isn't so great this year.
And yeah, Derrick understands the game and the position better.

Not a chance. Thabo has been almost our best player.

Its a push Westbrook and a pick for Rose

Kinda wish they kept track of Assisting an assist like in Hockey. Rose gets to the lane anytime and sets up the whole play. So when he drives and kicks it out, it doesn't necessarily always lead to an open shot, but it sets up a pass for an open shot at least. Also, Chicago doesn't have the best shooters out there. I would take Rose easily but Westbrook is a good consolation prize. Wish he were in Seattle playing PG
