A observation on James Harden aka Mr. Beard

Post#1 » by dream_catcher_9 » Thu Dec 24, 2009 9:51 pm

Is it just me or does he have a predetermined mindset before each game what he wants to accomplish.

It seems like some nights all he wants to do is set people up and pass the rock, other nights like last night vs Suns all he wanted to do was drive to the hoop and score. He didn't even look to pass. We all know he can pass the ball very well and score very well. He seems to have trouble combining those things unless the coach tells him to focus on 1 thing each game.

thoughts?

I think he was being too passive to start the year and coach Brooks told him to look for his offense and now he's being too aggressive. He has to split that difference. The last few games he's driven the ball aggressively into the defense and hasn't really been looking for his teammates in the process. He's excellent at collapsing the defense in this manner, and he had teammates on the perimeter wide open on many of his drives last night where he either turned it over or missed a contested shot.

I'm real excited about Harden because he's already established that he can set up his teammates and that he can get to the basket at will; once he puts those two things together and becomes more rounded he'll be very good.

I don't really remember watching Clyde Frazier as a kid but for some reason and I'm sure it's the beard Harden reminds me of him.

Harden is a rookie and a very good one. To me he goes out and does what his coach asks of him. If the coach stresses passing he goes out in the next game and passes. If the coach stresses slashing and scoring then that's what Harden does! He is just trying to put everything together without making mistakes. You guys have a great player on your hands! by Feb. he will put it together!
