http://www.nba.com/2010/news/feature...s=iref:nbahpt1I like that deal.... (I am assuming an agreement to a contract extention would be agreed upon)

That deal won't happen, Toronto has Hedo Turkoglu signed to a billion dollar contract, they can get a lot more for Chris Bosh than Jeff Green.
Even if it did, Clangus, Bosh cannot be extended during the season. Rather, he would not agree to be extended since he would only be eligible for a fraction of the money / years he would otherwise get if he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

I realise all of the above Slick. I also realise it would have to be a "verbal agreement" to re-sign but it nonetheless got my brain wondering.

Slick. for someone who is usually so dry, accurate and articulate this hyperbole made me laugh!

Bosh is too expensive.
If Green is traded for a legit PF I'd rather have them go after Al Jeff.

Raptors fan here.
Me and my friend were saying that if Bosh were to be traded, OKC may not be a bad trading partner since they have Jeff Green to start off with.
In terms of fit for you guys, he's a good fit. Although Bosh is a good offensive player, he's best suited to being the Robin to Durant's Batman on the offensive end and focus more on defence. He's shown he's a smart capable help defender on the defensive end.
It seems Westbrook maybe off-limits (Durant is obviously), so it'll be Jeff Green & something for Bosh. If I were OKC, if they have the chance, they should consider the trade. Maybe OKC have to throw in Westbrook, Harden or something, while Raps throw something back too but OKC shouldn't pass on this opportunity.

Wow you are a homer. You want Green and either Westbrook or Harden for Bosh who at the end of the season will be an unrestricted free agent. You are completely nuts.
Why wouldn't OKC hang on to their entire roster and simply use the cap space they have to give Bosh a max deal in the off season?

OKC won't have enough cap space to give Bosh the max straight up.. it'd have to be a sign and trade.
Unless Nenad Krstic goes nuts and opts out, of course.

What is the cap supposed to be set at for next season? And how much will a max player cost this off season?
Hoopshype says we are only on the books for $40,252,254

The salary cap is projected to be around $53 million. Chris Bosh will be eligible for a contract starting at 30% of the salary cap, or around $16 million.
For us to accomadate a max free agent the salary cap would have to be about $57 million next season.
Another possibility is trading one of Nenad Krstic or Nick Collison for an expiring contract.

I have been thinking about where exactly would a Kristic for expiring deal work. The only teams that I think need that front court help would be Portland or Houston. Now the trades that you would have to look at are expirings that are backcourt players. Would that hinder the thought because we would lose depth up front or would that be manageable with Mullens and White waiting for a shot?
Trades that work are Etan/Kristic/Harpring for TMAC or Kristic/Ollie for Blake/Outlaw

I don't think it's worth it.. Krstic isn't what we need at center but I don't think he's playing horribly. He is what he is, MLE centers aren't expected to be stars.
Nick Collison has much more value, since he can play two positions fairly well.
If we're trading Collison or Krstic for expirings, all that really accomplishes is a shot at a max free agent in the offseason. Is it worth it to give up front court talent just for the chance of paying a player $100 million? I don't think so..

Slick, I agree that I don't think so, and although I agree with your logic, I think it's for an entirely different reason... I don't think we have a half-way legit shot at a max free agent in this offseason. Why give up this very solid and conservative approach to building a great team for one 20% shot at bringing in a player that might be the final big piece!?

Just a thought, but you guys could sign Boozer for relatively cheap this off season and move Green to the bench to backup both forward spots. Bosh would cost a lot in a trade, and quite frankly so would Jefferson. JMO

If I wear the Thunder I would do everything possible to team up Bosh and Durant. If I was Chris Bosh the Thunder would be appealing if I wanted to be close to home and live in a vert small market. The problem is that Bosh has a big enough ego where he wants to be the man. A sign and trade would be difficult though because the Raptors would need a quality big back and the Thunder don't have one.
The Thunder need to save money to keep thier guys longterm but, if it wear possible to pay Durant & Bosh that would be one scary duo.

Man right now I wouldn't touch Bosh with a ten foot pole. With the new CBA coming down the pike and GM's talking about how guys like Amare will be making 6-8mil and wanting to put in place a hard cap no way would I shell out a ton of coin for Bosh. Why create an unneeded riff between players, or hand cuff yor franchise?
