let me make a disclaimer first. He is not a natural PF, is inconsistent on a game to game basic because he lacks the length to be a force, and is not a good shooter. With that said the guy always seem to make winning basketball plays for us. You guys saw the 2 huge 3 pointers, I saw him contesting all the shots on defense at the end of the game. His effort, intelligence, and will to fight/win will help us long term, even with his lack of ideal length and shooting ability.

Slick might disagree with me, but he is essential to our long term future, because of what he brings in BBall IQ, and effort. He is one of my favorite players because of it.

He'd be a GREAT 6th man.

I like Jeff Green a lot for those qualities. I agree with everything you said. But is he a starting PF?

16 points in 47 minutes? 10 rebounds yeah, but in 47 minutes. He had some clutch plays and he's a hugely clutch player, very valuable. My worry with Jeff is that we'll overpay him to be a starting PF for those qualities, but there are other things we need from our starting PF unless we get a quality C.

Time will tell.. the catch and shoot 3 he hit took ALL THE AIR out of the building.

I agree with you that I am slightly worried that Presti will overpay for him because of that. But 1 or 2 million more, I don't think ill have a huge problem with that because he brings things to the table you can't teach.

I really hope we get a quality Center, so Green can stay on as a starter.

I agree with all of you guys. Another way to look at it could be that Durant seems to be really close with Jeff. So lets say we give Durant a max contract (pretty much a given) and Green 10 mil per year (or whatever the equivalent would be in the new CBA). Look at that as Jeff getting a very reasonable mid-level contract and Durant then being happy to stay for a max contract plus the other 4 mil per year of Jeff's. I would think that Presti keeping all of these guys together that Durant has grown close with could be a key part of how likely he is to stick around.

I would be very disappointed in Presti if he gave Jeff Green $10 million a year.

Was just throwing a number out there. But I can definitely see Green getting around 5/42 or 5/45 if it is a 5 year deal.

Jeff Green should get what Anderson Varejao got, $8 million a year on average. I wouldn't put raises in, just $8 million a year straight up. Fair value for him.

More than that and it's too much money in an unimportant position.. we need $$$ for a real big too.. not to mention KD's max and Russ will probably get a Rondo like extension or a bit less.

Is he really a good sixth man for the team though? KD takes most of the minutes at the 3, and if he isn't good at the 4, why play him there?

I really like Green too, though I don't think I would consider him "essential" in the long term. I think that a starting quality PF is essential though.

Well it seems like a new trend around the league for a good offense is a rebounding, shot blocking centers. And stretch PF's to open up the floor so wings can attack the rim.

What throw's in the monkey wrench is the Thunder have a stretch center and a stretch PF and a SF who has crazy range.

I think next year you might see Ibaka start as center Jeff Green as PF and obviously Durant at SF.

And as far as salarys go for Green. Who knows how much he will get? The lock out is coming and salarys are going to be reduced drastically.

I actually think he will be in the 6 mil range.

I THINK A 5/42 SOUNDS GOOD...
