Eh, dude gets to kick it for like 3 months now if he wants to. NBA there's always another game two days later max.

I'm seeing a long distance run with a few KMS left, but I thought closing ceremonies were at 2pm. Clearly not...

This marathon race is incredible!

4 runners, 3 spots... Less than 800m to go...

That was Hassan who won after winning bronze in the 10k on Friday

High Jump jump off wasn't a decision made just by the American. Both athletes wanted the jump off.

Doesn’t work like that

Runners earn money by running & don’t have guaranteed contracts so they’ll be back on the circuit

Elite runners take weeks off after a marathon. It take a toll on their body.

You'd be surprised how quickly some get back into the next one (look up Yuki Kawauchi :o ).
But yes, usually apx a month of rest and active recovery before getting into the next build.
I once (not elite!, sub elite would even be a big stretch) back up a peak marathon with another about a month later and it was hell on the body, think I was paying the butcher's bill for half a year after that.

Anyway, Hassan's run was incredible, OR on that course too is something impressive in itself, doing the is Zatopek another level. Wonder if she thinks she can have a crack at the triple gold? Not sure she can get the balance right to have the kick required for the 5 and 10 burn ups.

Re the poll for me it would have to be the 1500 M or 400 M, but nearly every Track race this Olympics was amazing. Overall on the track I was pretty tied into the 5 and 10 for the Men's desperately wanting Fisher to get a double medal haul. Not sure why I am such a big fan, but he is just such a cool headed racer, great tactician but also a tremendous engine and quietly top level finish.

The women's 1500 cool. Great to see Jess Hull get that medal!

The marathons were also amazing, the men's largely just for the feels- there is this cool clip of Kipchoge and Bekele having a fit bump on the start line which just brings a tear to the eye. The race itself was good, albeit decided a lot earlier than the women's. The women's race was just fantastic. Late night watching here and I really battled to calm down for sleep after that!

Their is a diamond league event like Aug 22nd. I'm sure a lot of athletes will be back for that. Though maybe more of them that just missed at the trials...or didn't make the final.

4 x 100M Men's Relay.

If you enjoy seeing teamwork and perserverance triumph over individual talent and ego, then that race was for you.

It's what sports is all about.

Why was that not a poll selection?

I guess if you enjoy the trainwreck...but yeah, they need to practice that and get some teamwork going to avoid further embarrassment.

It's only a trainwreck from Team USA perspective. The OP didn't say you could only enjoy the events that the US did well in.

Like I said... ego. It's blinding. Even here in the forums.

I forget, who won that event? I had to leave off a bunch of good races though with only 10 options.
