Depth and no steroid/hgh testing allows for too much physical pressure.

Just realized Calderon didn't play, they could've used his shooting.

Sloppy game from the refs on down but the US made enough stops and enough lucky bounces on their horrible decision making on offense to win out.

No, they finally started calling it equally. And when they do, it's no match.

international fans always got to blame something else other than that the fact that the other team is flat out better

This American team is made up of second tier 'stars' and they're very very overrated´. US have Lebron, Curry, AD, who are in a league of their own, the rest are not 'superstars' like the Dream Team were. This team gets by on physique and depth. And depth is a direct consequence of 20 times or so more basketball players pr. capita than other teams.

this team needs pop...a little too much iso and standing around watching...not enough attacking the rim and passing and moving

at the end of the day even US wings were outrebounding Spain's bigs. What's the point of playing defense if you can't get the ball back off the glass...

Spain plays prettier more fluid basketball, but Team USA is just too physically imposing. Team USA will limp their way to a gold medal. In their defense, no LeBron, Curry, Leonard, Westbrook, Paul, etc. I could create a team of American players that are not playing that could beat this Team USA team.

overrated or not, theyre undefeated.

a consequence? maybe you should look up the definition. the depth is a reflection of the talent available in the US

this team has played less than two months together , while other teams have played together for years.

Style points were out the window with this team a couple of games ago. Just happy we finally played some defense for more than two- or three-minute spurts.

You should create another stupid thread so we can discuss this in depth.

Listen.

Let me know you understand 'total pool of basketball players' and 'basketball players pr. capita'.

Do you understand what it means?

Basketball is like the 5th or 6th most popular sport in Spain, US has many many times the players of Spain, so talking about 'talent' I don't see it. I see two equal teams beaten by depth, because US has many more basketball players. And Spain has doping testing. Lance Armstrong was allowed to dope forever in US. Everyone knows Americans begin doping in high school already.

If you remove those factors, I don't see US superioty, just normal domination due to having a bigger pool of players to choose from.

Nothing 'Dream Team' about it at all. No MJ, Bird, Magic, not even a Barkley or David Robinson. NBA players imo have never looked worse since I began watching.

Lol "doping"? Reach much. That's ridiculous. And it's not football or wrestling or something, being crazy athletic or jumping high doesn't mean someone's going to be good at basketball. It's a game of skill.

What you're saying, you can say about anything. USA could say, "If only we had more people interested in soccer and a different culture, we'd have the best team". Yup. That's how it works. It's that history, culture, pool of players, training, etc. that gives the USA the best players to choose from. If Spain doesn't care about basketball, good for them. We don't care about soccer lol. You become what you prioritize.

You're right though, this USA team is probably the worst mix of players since 2004 bronze team. But injuries happen, Zeka, etc.
