Damn...stupid Indian broadcasters are showing an Argentina vs Brazil football match...Guess they don't deem a semifinal round of the 200m important...They better show the finals tomorrow, or I'm gonna be psst lol...

Had a look at the semi a few times over... Bolt ran about a ~9.95 bend before switching off at about 120m and toying with Crawford up the straight... Spearmon has been running terrible bends... Bolt will win, with the 2nd fastest time in history, daylight 2nd... Americans should take the minor medals but aren't looking like going much under 20 to me.

Hope not... MJ was the greatest, Bolt is just the latest.

WTF gq, you're right... He definitely seemed to relax and almost jog the last 25-30 metres... Although all the runners seemed to be doing the same thing, if you look at the legs of the runner beside bolt they were going much faster than Bolts...

No Donovan Bailey was. :P

Hope Bolt goes all out this time, not hold anything back. A Canadian competitor in the 200m said Bolt is in another league, he can do a cartwheel and still win.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

I was never a fan of Michael Johnson. He ran with a stick up his ass.

If the math serves correct, Bolt can run a 19.04 for the 200.

9.69-(0.24 approximately)=9.4

9.4+9.4= 18.8 + .24 = 19.04

He has such a quick turn too. A 10.1 bend.

Can I ask where are you getting your maths?

Whats the 0.24?

If you are saying a 10.1 bend are you then saying a 8.94 straight to get to 19.04?

a) the first 100m is on a bend, he won't run a 9.69 bend, the semi ~10flat was about as fast as he will go
b) the 2nd 100 has a running start, straight maths wornt work and
c) I don't care who you are, no man in history has ever run 100% intesity for the 200m without slowing toward the end.

No man until Bolt that is. ;) I truly hope he can run full out and beat Johnson's record! With Johnson watching, that would be so sweet.

If someone like Crawford can at least make it competitive, then I think Bolt can break the record. If he has a comfortable lead 130 meters into the race, then it'll be tough for him to break. Although when you think about when Johnson got the 19.32, there was nobody within 30 feet of him.

Anyone know if this is going to be aired live in the US on any stations? It starts in about 50 minutes if I've figured my beijing to US time conversion correctly.

Its scheduled for 10:20 EST ... I doubt NBC will be showing it tho, if they continue there lack luster effort to bring live sports if someone not named Phelphs is in the event. Its gonna air live on CBC in Canada. I'm at work now, but I'm going next door to the CBC Building in a few minutes cuz they have a huge screen set up with couchs and chairs

People are still complaining that the National Broadcasting Company based out of New York City wants to focus on American athletes? Not to mention that if they show it now, when they show it again in prime-time it will be a replay.

It's hard to argue too much with NBC's stance of waiting to show it primetime.

They've shown that Olympic ratings are not effected by whether an event is live or not, so sticking a delayed event in primetime isn't going to provide them with the biggest ratings boost (if that's what they do). The problem is that 95% of Olympic viewers aren't traditional sports fans who demand stuff live or deem it worthless. It captures too many non sports fans to apply sports fan rules to it.

Still crushingly disappointing to me to not watch it live. I wonder if there is streaming video live somewhere.
