Any event that has judges sucks. That Shawn Johnson is some real jailbait though. Even if she reminds me of one of those Dr. Seuss characters.

It isn't just gymnastics where judges get it wrong. Quick example, the boxing judges have sucked animal parts. They don't even count body punches and I have seen knockdowns without points being scored. Judges get it wrong, and it happens more often that it should be allowed.

The judges can and have been wrong various times. It is like when a ref in basketball makes a bad call. Just because they are refs that doesn't make them correct all the time.

I thought the judging for the women's all around tonight was decent. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't uber corrupt either. Any event that involves judging is subject to dispute as to whether a score was too high or too low. Again tonight, I thought it was alright. Sure there were scores that you could question, but its nothing as bad as what Belo or NBC portrayed it. And in the end the best performances got the best scores.

Wow Canada is coming apart in Softball, they had a 1-0 lead in the sixth and then had three monster errors. A player dropping a fly out to give up a score, the Catcher missing a ball allowing a player to score from third and the shortstop overthrowing the first baseman on a simple play allowing two runners to score. The US team scored four runs without getting a hit in the inning. Team USA is pitching a no hitter despite giving up a run due to errors. This game is ridiculous.

Thank you... Roy Jones Jr was the biggest robbery outside of the USSR/USA game.

That was gross. It's like playing baseball in gym and that little girl comes up to bat and strikes out but the gym teachers go "awww... give her another swing." untill she hits the game winning double and then the other team starts talking trash. How could the IOC let that happen?

Team USA just got the first earned run of the game in the seventh inning.

Edit- Another run for Team USA.

Team USA hit a single to the outfield, the Canadian outfield picked it up, winded up and promptly threw it directly into the ground. More errors for Team Canda, Team USA now leads 8-1.

Damn, you're spoiling it for me!! :-?

Guess you're getting the game much earlier than I am. At least they were leading for a little while. :(

That play was very Garo Yepremian-esque.

Team USA wins 8-1, improves to 4-0. Team USA has won 18 straight Olympic softball games and pitched three straight no hitters.

Canada has a few boats in several rowing finals. So we might actually break the goose egg this weekend! :tooth

Also speaking of the gymnastics judging, I was watching the women's finals on NBC again and they actually changed the score at least for one person.

Anna Pavlova's score on one of the events was raised slightly higher than it originally was after it was deemed to be abit too low by someone overseeing the judges. Also I heard the NBC commentators say that if a score seems to be off in some way, that some supervisor or something can send it back and ask the judges to re-evaluate the score. So at least there seems to be someone there that's trying to keep things fair and in line.

Wow judo is fun to watch, especially when the crowd is so into it! Just finished watching an epic match between China and Japan for the gold medl in women's judo and holy crap it was awesome! The Japanese woman was in the lead for almost all the match and with 20 seconds left, just when you think it wasn't going to happen, the Chinese woman flips the Japanese woman for Ippon and OMG the whole arena goes absolutely insane for almost ten minutes straight until the Chinese woman goes into the locker room.

Sports can be so awesome sometimes, especially when you beat your arch rivals!

 Sumo wrestling is only popular in Japan.

Also another gold for China in men's weightlifting. :D

Every single weightlifting competition I've seen with the Chinese in it its always been like this:

1. Wait until 95% of the competitors have finished lifting their maximum weight
2. Come in at the very end and do three lifts that are at least several kilos heavier than the next competitor and win the gold

So far I think the Chinese have won all but one of the golds in weightlifting. Awesome!
