I wonder how fast Phelphs would actually be in an open water event, where he cant use his advantage turn off the wall, and the racepurely be a sprint freestyle event... he mite not take the 200m free under that senario.

Look at his 200m freestyle race and he opens up huge leads during the swim portion and not at the turns. I think Phelps is great at turns, but the assertion that he'd only wins because of great turns is ludicrous.

I don't know why people are questioning my wins. I won 8 medals, all of them were wins, no matter if they were blow out leads or a tip of a fingernail win. I won in a simple way, being faster at the stroke that was to be done.

Even though I was a Phelps guy earlier, Bolt breaking the WR in both the 100 and 200 has to give him the edge I think.

Bolt running into headwind. Noone thought he would do it with the wind against him, not his agent, not Donovan Bailey, not the announcers.

And he murdered the rest of the field.

Too bad Bolt's not running the 400 as well. If he could sweep the 100, 200, and 400 it'd be one of the greatest performances ever.

Bolt is the first man since American Carl Lewis in 1984 to sweep the 100m and 200m gold medals at an Olympics. He is also the first man ever to break the world marks in both sprints at an Olympics. Not even Lewis or Jesse Owens managed that.

Also, Bolt is doing this while nobody else in Beijing runs under the former World and Olympic records at the 100 and 200.

I do not know if it has been posted..
But when Michael Johnson was commentating the 100m on the BBC. he actually said "people will be going "michael who" and the other commentator goes "well some people will disagree with your opinion" and one of the funniest thing I have heard on commentary.

Michael Johnson said in a straight face "those people do not matter"
