Is Pelé eligible to play soccer in 2016 as one of the three "older players"? 8)

Rogge: "These were happy and glorious games."
And now, Rogge ends the games and commands the extinguishment of the flame

In two weeks with just a bit of simple promotion you guys have really transformed this forum. Only four of the Olympic threads went unused this year which is really impressive.
I hope you have enjoyed the Olympics and I hope chatting here has added to that enjoyment in some way.
If we can do anything to make this forum better for future games please let us know.
Thanks again.

That was a really great send-off. Well apart from George Michael's shameless self-promotion and Annie Lennox on a boat for no reason! The rest of the 3 hours was excellent. And boy does Emeli Sande have a powerful and emotive voice.
Really glad I used the BBC feed that had no commentary or interruptions. Got to watch the proper stadium experience, I wish Id done the same fr the opening ceremony. It's productions like this that are only made worse by the non-stop drivel spewing out of the mouths of tv presenters.
So long Olympics, I really hope we see you in London again in my lifetime.

suckfish wrote:Heard this song enough this week. The PA had the basketball arena sing this like 20 times a day. No exaggeration.
I thought the same - why the hell was the MC constantly using that to unify and liven up a crowd several times a game?! bizarre. It always seemed to me the only people in the crowd who even knew the words were the Brits and thankfully for the basketball there were always great international crowds.

Just watching it now, pretty good so far. I'm watching Stomp perform, so I still have a little while to go. Quite a reward for One Direction to perform being as they are just a fad. I'll look back at that one with a chuckle.

All done now. Depressed because it's all over and because I could've experienced this incredible event while I was still young had Chicago won the Olympic bid for 2016. London did a fantastic job hosting and I hope to visit that Olympic stadium in my lifetime. Great conversation on this board too. Start the countdown clock for Rio.

I love the Olympics. I can't get enough of them. Greatest sporting event in the world.
