Femke Bol with a terrific comeback. I know they beat the World Record yesterday, but ALWAYS go for your best team.
Or at least the second best.

They let a 19 yr old kid from college anchor this.

At this rate they're gonna lose the overall medal standings, just too many silvers who should have been golds.

That comeback was effin nuts. But yeah, the US could have put up better runners, but crazy they got the World Record in the semis. And you can't really fault the anchor leg. She did well. Bol was just insane. I'm sure Sydney McLaughlin was watching.

Yeah, that was a great run from her and great for Saint Lucia to get a medal. Sha'Carri really needs to work on her starts. She ALWAYS has to make up ground. Happened in the trials too. I was thinking before it started (especially after Shelly Ann Frasier-Price was scratched :( that Melissa Jefferson would get a medal, and was happy she did as well. She is young and may become the US' best sprinter in for the next decade.

But also watch out for McKenzie Davis who was the NCAA Champion in the 100 and 200 this year. She was 4th at the trials and made the 200...she will probably be at the 100 next time.

Both she and Lyles. Dude, you're small as ****, you're not Fahnbulleh or Shericka Jackson size.

How do you manage to start so **** slow everytime? It defies any logic. Smaller athletes have almost always had a good start, it was a problem with the finishing speed as they got caught in the end by the more massive athletes with the better finish.

I'm talking about Coleman here. Bingtian Su. Many others.

I wasn't sure I expected her to win..her starts are never good.

I also think Bednarek and Kerley could both beat Lyles. They had the two best semi times out of anyone.

I looked at the splits and while I'm sure Sydney would have delivered a better anchor, the runner actually did even better than the WR time they had previously. It was the 3rd leg runner who probably cost them the race.

Deadmon ran a 44.70 400m. He ran 44.17 in the WR heat. They lost the race by like less than .40 so him putting up a half second+ slower 400m cost them.

Even though she needs to work on her starts, I don't think you can fault Sha'Carri too much. Her best ever his 10.71 I think, and Julien Alfred ran a 10.72. Sha'Carri still ran a respectable 10.87.

Who knows what would have happened if all the Jamaican's were not running, which is crazy. They took all 3 medals last time. Elaine Thompson-Herah ran a 10.61, Fraser-Pryce a 10.74 and Shericka Jackson a 10.76.

Yeah, the guys did worse, especially the 3rd leg. He really gave it up. The anchor leg looked really good, but Bol is a generational athlete.

What's crazy is that Sydney and Femke are both the type of runners who are generational (well, best ever) and they happen to run at the same time in the 400m hurdles. And then same goes for Rai Benjamin and Karsten Warholm in the mens 400 hurdles. They both crushed the WR last olympics. Hopefully Rai can get him on the rematch.

I wonder if Sha'Carri's nails impact her starts. Just testing putting your fingers down, you get a lot better grip on the ground with your fingertips than if you have to straighten out your fingers to be flat. It may not matter but it could have a minor impact which could be all the difference.

I guarantee it has a slight negative impact. There's absolutely no way they don't. It may only be .01 or .02 but it's something and it could be more.

Although I wanted Sha'Carri to win, to see Julien Alfred win was so heartwarming. And then LaFrond in the women's triple. Just great to see countries get their first medals ever. The true spirit of the Olympics.

Noah Lyles after coming 2nd in heat: ""I was more expecting that they would just fall in line"
No one is 'letting' you win. They all want to win and beat you. Underrating your opponent will lead to defeat.

Mmmmmmmm.....

Why did Pryce not run 100m?
PARIS, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Jamaican double champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce missed her Olympic 100 metres semi-final on Saturday after sustaining an injury in the warm-up after her preparation was unsettled by security officials delaying her entry to the Stade de France.

nothing was saving her with her starts today, just sat in the blocks both of her races today.

I feel like Lyles will end up with a Silver tomorrow as expected - that type of arrogance never gets you that W. Jamaica continues to dominate this event in the 100m.

They're still fine. China will really be the only competition in that dept. Obviously they can't let too many more of the opportunities where they're favored slip but I think they're still right where they need to be. Lots of gold still to be had for Team USA.

Here you are talking about multiple gold medals and our entire country is ecstatic already with our first gold medal from a male (Yulo - artistic gymnastics) and perhaps our last one too this Olympics. LOL

Can't believe so many Americans are still butthurt because of the truth Noah Lyles said about the NBA champions, that they're actively rooting against him.
Det. Frank Pembleton: You know, sometimes you're funny. Then there's now.
