The athletic talents this year are just stacked, man I wish Ian Thorpe was still around, that would have been a relay.

But not this much better. Jason's 46.06 is 1.44 sec better than the world record. 1.44 is eternity for 100 meter race.

It's tape delayed in the west coast for some stupid reason. A lot of people aren't happy with NBC out there.

That may have been the loudest I have ever cheered for a sporting event, up there with Devin Hester at the Super Bowl. I did not think Lezak had any chance, but I saw him inching closer....

Wow what a race!

*Edit- This definitely makes up for Katie Hoff getting the silver medal.

I can't remember ever getting excited over an Olympic event, but I had to catch myself in the middle of screaming right there. That sucks for the west coast that didn't get to see it live. The best part was not thinking they had a chance and then seeing him somehow take it.

Man still don't know how the French could lose that? That was a pretty big lead to choke away like that.

You have to watch this when it comes on in a few hours. What a race. Sucks you know who will comeback and win though.

Except for Michael Phelps, NBC tape delays for the east coast too, so you have plenty of company.

Central time has no tape delays on a lot of the events. Most of them are live for me.

They tape delayed for US basketball also. Good thing it was online though.

I'm glad I have CBC up here in Canada. While NBC just ended its coverage at midnight EST, CBC's coverage goes on throughout the whole night/morning live until like 10-11am the next day. GO CANADA GO! :D

Also you guys can go to the cbc.ca website and checkout all the live feeds to all the events! The streaming quality is pretty good too. :)

Jasons 46.06 needs to be taken into context !!!

You dont compare this to the 100m world record, which was set by Eamon Sulivan at 47.24 WR

Legs in relays are not counted as official times, because you are able to anticipate the start

jason lezak - 46.06
frederick bousquet - 46.63
alain bernard - 46.73

Thats what we should compare it to, which is still incrediable.... but I have a hard time seeing a leg like that happening anytime soon ... u need a world class swimmer, and u need to be drafting a competitor from behind to generate more speed, and the swimmer ur following needs to be better then just world class, plus he needs to be STUPID to swim directly next to the lane marker to let u draft off of him the whole way

We will see when the men 100m race starts, that 47.24 record is gonna be smashed and then we can come back talk about what a big jump it is. Maybe it won't be 46.06, but I won't be surprised that it is much within 47.

I agree that Bernard was stupid to swim that close the lane marker. I'd think the lane market must bothered his strokes too.

Going under 47seconds in an official start... WOW... I cant even believe these times, as someone who has followed international swimming competitions for a long time.

Can Bernard win the 100m? ... showing just how much he choked it in the relay?
Will Lezak be able to duplicate this race, without drafting a strong swimmer?
Will Sulivan show he is still the man to beat, after claiming the official WR in the opening relay leg?
Will Pieter Van Den Hooganband successfully be the 1st to 3 peak the Olympic 100m Free
after dropping the 200 Free?

Heck I dont even think the Canadian Brent Hayden will even medal in the 100M Free, and he is the current world champion. Hope I'm wrong but, damn.....

Didn't someone say that the olympics were boring?

Also, they just reported that a female road cyclist is the first person to test positive for a banned substance. EPO or something like that.
