I write this after Yu-ting had defeated yet another opponent (with no DQ or even points deducted for a rabbit punch) and two opponents wanting to end fights early.

I've watched this incident live since her opponent is my countrywomen, and it was disgusting - not only the illegal rabbit punches (there are 5 or 6 of them !!!, see below clip seconds 5 to 10) but also no punishment at all - no penalty, no disqualification. Just listen the boos from the crowd - Does IOC want us to believe everyone watching there knows the rules, commentator knows the rules, but not the four referees of the fight?

This incident itself, happening in Olympics which always has more strict rules on competition ethics, is pretty telling about IOC's stance on the issue. Yu-ting deserved a disqualification because one rabbit punch might be a mistake but 5-6 of them are not, especially after people started to scream "hey hey hey !!!", she started to hit harder... what the hell was she thinking? I genuinely believe Turkish boxer would have been disqualified during or after the game if she was the one throwing the same punches to her opponent.

This should never happen in any fight, whatever the competition, whoever the fighters and whatever their chromosomes. It is extremely dangerous...

This Pentathlon 'laser shoot' thing is annoying me. If winter athletes in the biathlon can ski with a rifle and then get to a station, load that rifle and then fire at a target. These athletes should be able to run with a pistol and then load a pistol at a station and fire it.

Them running up to this station to use a laser gun that's already there makes it seem like American Gladiators obstacle course ****.

But the biathlon in winter is one of those sports I forget about in between Olympics but then tune in riveted during them. Real life life skills there.

Considering one side is stomping their feet and wailing about how "unfair" it is and we shouldn't allow women who have biological advantages to compete in sports while at the same time is praising Olympians like Katie Ledecky and Simone Biles who are some of the most dominant athletes in their sports and clearly have biological advantages, I'd say it's not that side lol

Seems unlikely that we are going to pass China in Gold at this point. Mens Water Polo team just lost the semi's now. Just looking at some of the events left, it's still going to be tight but China has several final finishes left. If they hit on all of them or almost all of them, it seems they will have just enough to eclipse what the U.S. has left.

Not having any golds in Beach Volleyball, Water Polo or Tennis definitely hurt us a bit amongst others.

They started winning golds in **** boxing now.

It's gonna be close.

I see the 4x400 m relays + the Basketball teams winning gold. Plus Volleyball women.

That's 5.

36 golds are a lock IMO. Don't think it's gonna be enough but it can be more than that if unexpected wins happen.

He needs to get better in the snatch, he's a WR holder in the CJ. But he will be one of the main contenders in 4 years.

I know Pyrros Dimas was in the coaching staff at some point. Don't know if he's still there.

Either way, more and more americans getting good results in the sport.

That's surprising for a 300M+ country. I guess americans don't care much about weightlifting. My country had a lot of success in the past, drought in recent years, but two medals last two days and this guy didn't have much competition while setting world record.
