not so impressed yet - hanging a little girl by invisible ropes as she climbs past Silver Dollar City animated animals on clouds

I haven't been that into the opening event so far, but that ballet sequence was pretty freaking spectacular!
If they are doing a history of Russia then I'm kind of nervous to see how they portray the USSR days. Will they romanticize it? Will they gloss it over?
disclaimer - due to close family history I'm not exactly favorable towards the USSR and how many countries suffered under them. I don't want to make this a political thread, but just wanted to admit my bias.
Back on now - but I will re-watch that ballet sequence!

I thought they pulled off the opening ceremonies. There were a couple glitches but overall it was pretty good. I love the projections (or whatever the technology was) on the floor. The ballet was good and the last flying dove dance was cool.

I'm not a fan of opening ceremonies in general but i thought this one was surprisingly tasteful. 1000x better than London imo.

Better then 2010 and 2012.
