http://www.cbssports.com/olympics/news/russian-track-and-field-athletes-lose-appeal-hurting-olympic-chances/Russia's Track & Field team lost the appeal to allow their athletes to participate.
This decision is likely to weigh heavily in the IOC's decision about the entire Russian contingent.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/25/sports/olympics/rio-russia-ban-doping.htmlThe Russians avoided a blanket ban from competing in Rio; but the IOC is making all of them prove their innocence to individual sports federations if they want to be allowed to compete.
This may actually be more harsh than a blanket ban.

So far 37 more Russian athletes have been banned from the Games, joining the Track & Field team which saw every member banned with the exception of long jumper, Darya Klishina.

Around 110 banned now. Gymnastics, Boxing & Weightlifting are some of the sports awaiting their notification if they will be allowed to compete.
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke to many of the athletes yesterday.

I haven't finished reading the full McLaren report yet, but this stuff is pretty damning. I don't think that politics can be used as an excuse here. When you get things like the FSB involved, there is a pretty big problem.

Do you believe Olympic athletes are by and large not doping? Because they are. Political bull. They could do this to pretty much any country, especially America. So yeah, politics 100%.
