I agree Athens wasnt that great.
I place Beijing first because of Phelps and Bolt.

1.) Beijing - because I was there, I'm biased and because of the performances from bolt and phelps.
2.) Salt Lake - Canada winning the gold in hockey
3.) Athens - Phelps, Thorp and co in swimming. US finally falls in Olympics b-ball.

1. Sydney 2000
2. Barcelona 1992 (Dream Team, Baby!)
3. Athens 2004 / Beijing 2008

I did not find Atlanta "Coca Cola Games" 1996 a Top 3 Olympics. It was so hyper commercialised.

1: 2008 Beijing Olympics. The best Olympics ever. China and Chinese people are on the right track to become the world power again.

2: 1984 Los Angeles. China's first ever Olympic appearance and back home with 15 gold medals. And Carl Lewis.

From Chinese POV it was great, but overall, those 1984 Olympics were soured by the great Eastern boycott... just like 1980 was diminished by the great Western boycott :(

sydney didn't have a dominant team or athlete so it had competitions that were closer.

but beijing was all about records and great performances.

i'll put them both at the top.

Out of all the recent summer games, I really can't remember much from Athens. Probably my least fave in the last 20 years or so.
