I'm hopeing for any City aside from Chicago.

I would be leaning towards Tokyo for 2016

I am Biased tho... I'm hoping Toronto gets another crack at it, if Vancouver 2010 goes well down the line. Toronto arguably has had some of the strongest bids in the last 20 years, but politics and bribes have kept the Summer Games away for the time being (1996, 2004, 2008 Bids)

On July 10, 2007 it was revealed that the Canadian Olympic Committee had begun work on a potential bid for the 2020 or 2024 games for Toronto

Losing the Games would be even more disappointing knowing this.

It'll be between Rio and Chicago, this financial backing is HUGE for Chicago since that was the IOC's main issue with their bid. Rio's is crime, that's safety, that's harder to guarantee. The people of Tokyo seemingly don't want the Games, and Madrid's proposal, according to the IOC, was almost indecipherable.

I think Rio ends up with it, but I would be ecstatic is Chicago got it.

Public support for the Chicago games is dwindling to say the least. The Chicago Tribune reported 47% of people from Chicago support the Olympic bid down from 61% when they last polled back in Feb.

Either way I'll be happy. If Chicago wins the bid it will be awesome to see an Olympics in my hometown. If Chicago loses the bid, Mayor Daley doesn't have the chance to **** it up and embarrass this city.

My gut tells me Rio will win in a more lopsided vote than some are expecting.

Obama may be headed to Copenhagen after all

If true this brings Chicago's chances up greatly imo. With just Michelle I would put Chicago's chances at most 30%.

WASHINGTON -- The White House is sending an advance team to Copenhagen, Denmark, to make preparations in case President Barack Obama decides to attend the International Olympic Committee's meeting there next month, an administration official says.

The committee will choose a host city for the 2016 summer Olympics during the Oct. 2 meeting. Obama's hometown of Chicago is a finalist, but the president has said he can't commit to attending the meeting because of the health care reform debate in the U.S.

First lady Michelle Obama, a Chicago native, will attend and make a presentation to the committee.

The White House official spoke on background because a final decision has not yet been made on the president's plans.

Obama and Michelle just took off a few miles from where I live.

But the IOC is still at the Bella Center. Apparently Rio made a strong push by posting the amount of games that's been helt outside of South America compared to a big fat 0 from their end.
