Damn... was hoping to see some more discussion... or at least SOME discussion on this...

Have alot to say on the topic but apparently no-one to talk to about it (at least at RealGM lol)...

I've been pretty divided on the issue of Bolt, even though I have known about him for years, I don't really care for overnight sensations, yes he ran some very fast times as a Junior, but really nothing close to what he did in Beijing last year, or now in Berlin.

If he hadve been a once off flash in the pan (Beijing) then it also would have thrown up bad questions about drug possibilities and the like, and while that could may remain in some peoples mind, at least he has shown it was not a once off.

The longer he sticks around and does these kind of performances the more I will warm to him.

As a track & field athlete myself, theres things to love and to hate, to hate; he makes me feel very slow... After last night my 100m best is no longer within a second of the current WR... but at the same time, seing someone else do this helps to break the mental shackes of what people believe are possible.

Looking at myself, just after watching the 3 fastest men in history over 100m go at it and make it look so easy, I've been inspired in my own training to raise the bar above what I previously thought was possible, and nailed two sessions on the weekend that broke all kinds of training records for myself...

Looking at Tyson Gay, 2 years ago in Osaka he won with 9.85 and at that point he probably thought that one day if he got evertything all together he might duck under 9.80... two years on and Bolt has dragged him through to a 9.71 with no dip, he definately showed the ability last night to go under 9.70, which he may never have done or thought possible, had Bolt not done what he has done.

As a fan, I just prey he is clean, and hope that he remains consistent and continues to work hard. I love to see athletes who have been at the top for a long time rewarded for the hard work they put in, so I hope that he does continue to work to try and enhance his extrodinary natural talent.

The WR has now progressed 0.16 in under 2 years (from 9.74 to 9.58) thanks to Bolt, to shave the previous 0.16 off the record took 16 long years (from 9.90 in 1991 to 9.74 in 2007)... there is no doubt he is a phenomenon the likes we have never seen before, and may never see again in Track & Field.

Wow not much discussion in this thread... theres 5-6 pages worth on the OT-Canada Board.

I think its remarkable.... Thinking that 9.50 can be broken in the 100m.

I think he can possibily shave some off of his 19.30 in the 200m if he has good conditions.

Trinidad is resting its top 2 guns in the 200m (Burns and Thompson) and so I'm hopeing they challenge the States for the Silver in the 4x100m

The 37.10 in the 4x100meters, is a difficult one to beat cuz its contingent on 4 runners essentially peaking... I hope to see a sub 37 second eventually tho. At the Olympics they weren't even pushed to get that time, but they ran thru the line regardless.
