Sheesh. Where is my karma for gifting you an earlier pick than was necessary?

why do I always love my team when the draft is finished, and then end up nowhere near championship level?

but this year I really love my picks after 200.

Ross is a shooter and Toronto desperately needs outside shooting. They can't buy a 3 except for Lowry and Bargnani (Fields and Derozan suck)
Jerebko - had quite a few high caliber games in Europe this summer. if he gets 28 minutes in a few games, I'm pretty sure he'll anchor himself in the starting line up.
Freeland - he's an experienced and pretty good rebounding big. Hickson just sucks if you're not playing high tempo and Myers is a rookie, and Freeland has some soft hands for a big men (can shoot and pass)
Selby - he is the star of the summer league and can beat Bayless as the 6th man in Memphis (also Bayless is highly injury prone)

Yes, Moving up 9 picks in the 200s was a very nice gesture...but you still knew you were getting a deal too good to be true. Plus, our more recent trade talks canceled out any karma that would've earned. To be honest, though, I'm not sure how that karma transfer works...maybe there's a karma manual or handbook I can reference? :D

Let me play devil's advocate.

Ross: Buried in lineup.
Jerebko: Not that good even when got minutes. Low upside.
Freeland: Total unknown. Likely Portland brings in another big either by trade or signing.
Selby: Beating out Bayless? I doubt it.

Don't feel picked on, every late pick has question marks.

not feeling picked on, don't worry. in fact I'm up for some discussion as long as new topics/teams/players come by...

Ross can be buried in the lineup (I think you mean rotation?) but they do need 3pt shooting and unless Derozan or Fields worked hard this summer, they don't have it.
Jerebko - wasn't he around top80 3 years ago when he was starting?
Freeland - unknown to you but not to us europeans
Selby - yes he may not beat out Bayless but at least he has the confidence from summer league, we'll see.

I don't know where Jerebko was 3 years ago to be honest. I looked at drafting him and when I looked at his stats from last year I was unimpressed even when he got minutes.

I think there is a certain GS center who was probably top 50 3 years ago as well. Doesn't mean I'd use that to justify picking him though.

Yeah, Jerebko had good numbers for a rookie. It's possible the injury set him back, so some upside this season isn't totally impossible. If nothing else, everybody on the Pistons has opportunity. Anyone who gets anything going should get a chance to play, because they really need help.

 THat center's name popped into my head this weekend and I thought, man whatever happened to that guy?

As for Jerebko, I'm actually a bit of a fan of his game. I think he can be incredibly good, and on the depleted (that's putting it nicely) Detroit roster, you'd think he'd get minutes. But even last year he didn't get the consistent minutes he deserved. And that worries me. I would have grabbed him at one of my last picks, but I worry that his window may be closing in Detroit.

In related news: What on earth happened to the Joe Dumars that built that championship team? Can we safely say that it was his decision to draft Darko (because they "had the luxury of drafting a project that early") that was the beginning of his demise? To think of the guys he could've drafted in that draft year: Carmelo, Bosh, Wade...it wasn't exactly rocket science to pick the right guy at 2.

Can we finish this draft so I can start talking about my wonderful team?

Jerebko was never a top-80 player. The best rank he had was 146th per game in 2009 - 2010. (and 120th in cumulative)

He came on pretty strong at the end of his rookie season. That was the good sign that got people interested. Roughly top100 over last 3 months, top70 over last 2 months of his rookie year. He was a hustle stats forward on a team that really needed that.

Im hoping that charlie V can climb to the top of that forward mess in detroit. I know he will produce if he gets the minutes.

I'm sure you're not the only one who's been saying that...for the last 3 years.

He was well on his way to starting and becoming a solid talent until he went down with a major injury during the preseason that next year.

I never said he was top80 for a whole season, but he was definitely in that range while he was constantly starting and getting consistent minutes. I think it was after the all-star break. or maybe a bit after the all-star break.

It's been 13 hours since Hopper told us to "just skip him", so by that reasoning, Cy is well late and Sly has only 3 hours left on his clock.
