Re: FFDL 2010 Draft: BWW, Skai...finished!

Nice analysis, and while I agree with the position of my team as ranked, I disagree with being stuck with this team. I still have my '11 pick, and I expect a lot of players on my roster to improve and give me many trade-able assets. With the exception of Richard Hamilton and Lamar Odom, my team is extremely young and only have one way to go in terms of improvement.

Ok Gents, with the draft over, you may now add and drop players directly on this page, until the Yahoo league is open (maybe we can get Joe to open our league early eh? 8-) ).

Also, you will find on the main page that your 2013 draft picks are now available for trading...

Let's have a fun and exciting fantasy season!

Since when have we made add/drops during the offseason? And who died and made WB commish?

Carl, we have always been able to do add/drops after the draft.

And yes, I have taken over duties as co-commish in the place of Jordan, as confirmed by Sly.

And in that vein, I would like to make the beginning of the season speech:

We have all been playing together for the most part for the last several seasons, and in that time, things have gotten chippy. I would like to encourage all of us to remain respectful of each other. Sure, trash talk about a team is fine, and in good fun, but derogatory, hurtful comments made to another manager in this league will not be tolerated. Threats or hurtful comments, whether on the board or via PMs will not be tolerated either. We have lost good managers due to some un-sportsmanlike conduct, and I'd like to see things stay competitive, but not hurtful.

With that being said, let's have a fun season guys!

Trade to announce

East has traded Boris Diaw to WB for the right to swap 2013 1st rounders (East gets the better of the two).

With this trade, East adds Tyson Chandler

With this trade, WB drops Lance Stephenson

I veto this trade. I reject this trade based on the concept that there is a 50-50 chance east gives Diaw to WB for nothing and if a manager receives nothing in return that is not a legitimate trade. I also object to WB as commissioner given that he is already beginning to abuse the power.

I do not see your reasoning, as either way, he gets several extra "ping pong balls" to determine (he decides on the numbers, and therefore, he gains).

As for the co-commish thing, Carl, this was taken care of weeks ago. Also, I will point out that irony of your "power" statement, as I will not be accepting any more of your "official moderator" threats via PM.

If there are any legitimate abuses of power that you would like to address, I am more than happy to discuss them with you. Though, I will say that anything I've done in this league has been commissioned and approved by Sly.

Let's have a good season, and let's try to keep things respectful. Thank you.

I disagree, he's received the "consideration" of swapping picks -- which is all this trade accomplishes and makes it legitimate. (or at least legitimate enough not to be veto-worthy)

I guess it would be handy to have the rules somewhere. I'm having to find out things as I go along.

That said, can Setterland really veto the trade? What are the trade veto rules?

Carl, give it a rest. Your schtick is tired.

I have no problem with the WB/east trade, and I have no problem with WB as commish. Anyone who can't handle the new regime, should seriously consider whether they want to continue to participate in this league.

Oh, well if you don't have a problem with it then nevermind, my opinions on those subjects aren't legitimate.

Is that supposed to be aimed at me? Why would I want to drop out of the league when I've got the 2nd best roster? If your memory is failing you, I almost always veto WB trades so this is nothing out of the ordinary. It does help that most of his trades come under shoddy circumstances though, hence why I don't agree with him being commissioner. He's been a rotten apple from the start and I hope I'm not the only one who noticed when he started talking to everybody like he's an English school boy chumming it up with his gang of pals to deflect away from his underhandedness.

Sorry Joe, I should have put this up. Prior to Yahoo leagues being open, we can conduct normal business on this board. Any trades can be voted on, just as they can be in the Yahoo system. Anyone may veto any trade, though the consideration is usually within the boundaries of whether the trade is collusion or if it will unfairly imbalance the league. We haven't had many vetoed trades, if any. Some have chosen to vote veto just for dislike of the manager or the players being exchanged, but that can be expected.

Given that there is a difference in opinions on this, I formally request you, in your duties as commissioner, to look into the rules and prove that add/drops are allowed before the creation of the Yahoo! league, if only to clarify for our new member, who it seems you did not deliver the full set of rules to yet.

Carl,

it is these types of opinions and comments that I would appreciate would not be expressed in this league.

I apologize if you think I have been underhanded, and if you would like to point out any specific underhandedness, you are more than welcome to. Although, I will say, if I have been underhanded, I must really be challenged at it, since my team has been pretty awful since year 2.

Thanks for your understanding, let's have a good year.

More than happy to do so. If you would do me the favor and search the old thread, you may find proof there. I will talk to Craig and get him to clarify the following point:

Players may be added/dropped after the draft is over.

i'll cede to Sly's judgment on this, although, I don't see anyone else that has a problem with it, and if we're all in favor, then I see no problem with doing it.

So you're saying you'd like to suppress my opinions?

Mind you, I'm not trying deflect any credit away from sly and YS who have worked tirelessly over the years, but my opinions have historically been integral to the survival of this league. While it's a different kind of work than what the commissioner does, this league was on the brink a couple years ago and my effective integration of rivalry and competitive spirit helped bring the interest back. In short, telling me I can't express my opinions is like taking the pen away from Thomas Paine.

More than happy to do so, why don't you do the work for me? Is that what you just said? I asked you to do the work and find out what the rules are given that we have a disagreement on our hands and it seems floppy hasn't been given the rules yet anyways. You're the commish, that's your job.
