Alright, here is my problem.

I won't be in town from August 20-25. So I would like to begin the draft after the 25th. Any objections?

I'm good with that. I'm pretty much unavailable until at least the 20th anyway.

Aug 25 for the start of the draft is fine with me.

I get home from a business trip late on the 25th.... so that might work... although the 26th would be best for me.

It was his 2nd year. And slowest for both drafts with some questionable trades.

Cy and theman both posted without voting...

The 25th or 26th works for me, but I'd prefer going back to the 12 hour limit. The draft is my favorite part of the season, so I like it when it lasts a little longer. It gives me more time to create 3 team trades 8-) .

Is there anyone who is next in line to take over for Fran? I might know of someone unless there is a waiting list.

The 25th or 26th for the start of the draft sounds good. Let's fill that last spot and do the lottery around the 15th and we're ready to go.

I don't see any reason to put off the lottery that long. I agree with BreakDown that the draft is the best part, and the longer we have to put together trades the better. No harm in doing the lottery earlier, as long as we have everyone checked in.

it could be a little late

we will have 280 picks to make, if average time to pick is 5 hours, it takesexactly 2 months to finish the draft, which is too late. and average of 5 hours is a pretty good figure, it can take longer than that.

if you say we'll implement 6 hour rule again, I say we don't have a lockout forcing us, so why bother with the 6 hour draft deadline? Even a 6 hour deadline last year made us do 3 hour picks and we finished in 33 days or something like that. and I'm pretty sure most of us didnt like the 6 hour rule

so I think we should start a little earlier, and finish before the exhibition games start (which is very important since we'll have more scrubs and a lucky player can just grab a scrub because he started to play good in the exhibition games)

I disagree. Before the lockout season, we finished the draft exactly in 1 month. That was with a 12 hour per pick rule. If we start in 26th of August, we'll have more than 2 months to finish the draft. If we match ur pace from 2 years ago, we'll done on September 26th. Even if we are 15 days slower than that, then we'll be done around 10th of October, a few days before the start of exhibition games.

In short, we'll have no trouble finishing the draft in time if we start on August, 26th.

I think it's plenty of time. We've never taken more than a month for the draft. In fact, it's usually less than half that time.

But, if there is a problem, we can always shorten the pick periods if and when we come to that bridge.

The draft will begin on August 26. I will wait until the end of the day today for Cy, theman and Fran to give me their lottery numbers. Then I will run the lottery, and post the results. After that, everyone is free to begin making trades.

We have to specify rule changes (moves, seasonal vs weekly add-drops, etc) before trading picks. One we start trading picks, it means that the season has started.

What am I voting on? Start of the draft Aug 25/26 is fine.

Fran? Don't really care either but if I have to I will say no just because he streams too much.

TheMan, the voting list is on the first page of this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=336&t=1199388

You also need to select your lottery number, but you may have to look through the previous thread to see what numbers are still available.
