Favors and Wade were 1/2 on my list after Noah was taken. Now I'm unsure what I want to do...

Re: Semi-Keeper League
I had Noah and Jonas rated pretty high on my draft boards. I had Jonas tier 2 and Noah draft tier 3. Had Kanter and Favors in tier 3 because in 30+ minutes they produced at an elite level. Especially Kanter. 20-20 games are hard to come by and he flirted with two in the same week last year when given 30+ min. Plus they align with Grantland.com's Zach Lowe's "Millsap Doctrine". Guys who excel at a high per minute clip will continue to produce at that same per minute average when given more minutes.

When wb said his new guy was a jazz fan, he wasn't kidding. Decent picks. It would be really funny if a team full of players from a team that will be terrible next year is actually dominant from a fantasy perspective.

True story: I actually loathe Deron Williams. But BPA.

Re: Semi-Keeper League
My drafting plan will inevitably blow up in my face when Tyrone Corbin plays Marvin Williams and Andris Biedrins heavy minutes at the 4 and 5.

That's because he's a diva who got your hall of fame coach to want to stop coaching.

Anyone else using the realgm app? Is a first for me, finding it really useful for drafting purposes and fairly clean too. Especially with the tab for topics already participating in.

Can we clarify how the draft order (rookie draft) will be determined? Surely it can't be the reverse of the league rankings straight up. We also need to determine how many moves will be allowed during regular season and playoffs. I made a trade knowing that there was no restriction, other than the auction style waiver wire. And how many days is the waiver period?

Good questions.
The draft order will be a lottery of the teams that do not make the playoffs.
We have 12 teams in the league. 6 will make the playoffs. The top two teams will have a first round bye.
The bottom 6 teams will enter a lottery. The worst team will receive 10 lottery balls. The Second to worst will have 8, then 6, then 4, and the last two will have 2 each.
The playoff teams will have the 7th-12th picks in reverse order of their records.
Again, if it is determined that you are intentionally throwing games (by doing things like dropping productive players, failing to set line ups, etc), you will be asked to leave the league. I think we can all abstain from cheating, right?
As for moves, there will be unlimited moves during the regular season and playoffs, but there will be a FA budget. Once you've used your budget, that's it. No more moves. The waiver period for a dropped player will be 2 days.
The auction style draft is separate from the FA in-season budget. The auction draft will be to bring your team back up to 9 players (remember, there are 5 keepers, and any rookies you draft in the rookie draft).
Make sense?

I think the right way to go is to have an unweighted system. That eleminates the incentive for tanking. There is no reason to punish the manager ranking 7th who tried hard to make the playoffs but came up short.
Determining who tanks and who doesn't is very subjective and therefore, I think equal lottery chances for teams 7-14 makes for a fair and safe system.

Re: Semi-Keeper League
I think a cumulative lottery ball system would be a great way. Though in the first year it doesn't make any difference:
"The worst team will receive 10 lottery balls. The Second to worst will have 8, then 6, then 4, and the last two will have 2 each."
but here's the kicker, you do this for the last 3 years combined. So if you really wanna tank without violating the rules, you should suck at least a few years.
I strongly believe NBA should implement this system as well.
woody's system is ok I guess but if a team has 30% winning percentage for 3 years straight and then you give a 48% winning team the same chance to land a good rookie, I don't think you're helping the bad teams at all.
oh and BTW when does the fantasy rookie draft take place? probably around August right?
