I'd say 6'10" for KD is quite conservative. Your team is the one I wouldn't one to face.
This place is a cesspool of mindless ineptitude, mental decrepitude, and intellectual lassitude. I refuse to be sucked any deeper into this whirlpool of groupthink sewage. My opinions have been expressed. I'm going to go take a shower.

I'm going to draft Carmelo, pretty much based on his play with Team USA. An incredible off ball threat that can just light teams up.
There are other players I wanted to reach for, but Melo is my pick.

As the leader of the bench unit, I draft Russell GOATbrook.

RevisIsland wrote:This has definitely been my hardest pick yet. There is so much sheer talent left on the board, but I'm not sure how a lot of those players would fit with my team as currently constructed. This may be a reach, but I'm going to select Kawhi Leonard. I don't exactly need more scoring in my starting line-up. Kawhi is a dependable three-point shooter (36% career, 42% playoff) who will fly all over the floor, harassing offensive players and grabbing rebounding from no where. I have an extremely long team.
PG - Gary Payton (6'4)
SG - Kawhi Leonard (6'7)
SF - Kevin Durant (6'10)
PF - Pau Gasol (7'0)
C - Artis Gilmore (7'2)
That's a nice pick. You might have the toughest defensive back-court of anybody; and you're definitely going to have elite defensive rebounding with that line-up.

Bit of a risk, but I'll take Elgin Baylor as my 6th man here.

Re: All-Time non-Elite Fantasy Draft, Draft Thread

For my next pick I'm selecting the leader of TMC, Tim Hardaway. Hardaway was a stud as soon as he entered the league and more importantly to my team is that he was a leader as soon as he entered the league. He is a 5x All-Star and he reached 5000 points and 2500 assists in less games than anyone not named Oscar Robertson. With Hardaway I have a young, athletic, charismatic point guard who is a fierce competitor with great skills. Also just an exciting player to watch, was the possessor of "The Killer Crossover" and had a great 3 point shot to boot.

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing. Seems like a pretty good gameplan to me

Re: All-Time non-Elite Fantasy Draft, Draft Thread
At least for me, this is where the draft gets easy. I don't feel pressure to take BPA anymore with my starting line-up set. These are all players who have played 36-40 minutes a game in their careers, so I'm entirely comfortable taking more role-player types going forward. This is going to be fun. I wonder when the first coach comes off the board.
By the way, Baylor. I was thinking about him with BOTH of my last two picks. I would have had ungodly rebounding if I slotted him at the 2, but there would just be too much ball dominance with him, KD, and Glove. (Also why I didn't pick GOATbrook. His USG is like 38% this year!!!!!)

Re: All-Time non-Elite Fantasy Draft, Draft Thread
Other people going with sixth men already... but all the guys who jump out at me in that role are gone already. (Well, maybe not all...)
So this might be a little bit of a reach, but I'm taking Jeff Hornacek.

A guy who kind of gets lost to history, but he was actually really damn good in his time. Peaked scoring 20 ppg on .512/.439/.886. Was an all-star in 92 and was the 3rd best player on the late 90s Jazz teams, as well as a top player on a Suns team that made several good playoff runs pre-Barkley. Good combo guard and a guy who can drive the lane and had a killer mid-range step back.
Oh and did I mention he's one of the best shooters ever? He was approaching the 50/40/90 club before it was cool, and he's a career 58.2 TS% guy. He was Kyle Korver before Kyle Korver, and he had a far more versatile offensive game. Was pretty decent defensively as well.

ill go with Brandon Roy
not sure if he is going to be my starting sg or sixth man
kind of regret not going for Harden or Westbrook in my last round

Great pick. Very underrated player, kinda like a SG version of Horace Grant - perfect 3rd option/complementary player.
You have a really nice smallball, SSOL team. I was a little surprised to see that you put Amar'e at center, though (I thought that you would go with Stoudemire at PF, Rodman at SF, Iguodala at SG, and take an all-around center).
BTW - when are you guys going to start selecting coaches? I'm considering taking a coach with my next pick.
