Also let's shorten the draft to 11 rounds, so it's 10 players and 1 coach.

Re: All-Time non-Elite Fantasy Draft, Draft Thread
Four guys I thought might be gone by now are still here, and now it's a matter of direction for me.
There is an 8-time all-star, one time scoring champion, with an incredible peak here. He is recognized as a great scorer from the SF position, but always, for some reason, gets lost among other names. He was a good rebounder as well for his position, but I don't need rebounding with Moses, Jones, and McHale already. This guy is a scoring machine, and I can always have four true scorers on the floor if I desire. I select Alex English.
I want another big who can shoot the jumper and can give me boards. In today's game he'd be a top-3 center, and was top five in his era. He is better suited for today's game, given his range. With a nice shot, length, floor awareness, and passing skills, I select Jack Simka.

Re: All-Time non-Elite Fantasy Draft, Draft Thread
I feel like I need some more 3pt shooting on my team, though preferably someone with other faculties. I'm going with someone who was an excellent floor general, ~40% 3pt shooter on ~4 3PA/game (and this in an era when it was only just beginning to be utilized with regularity......I can only assume he'd do even better coming up in an era where it's so heavily emphasized), big enough he can probably manage to guard a SG if needed, and proved solid impact based on available RAPM for his post-prime years: Terry Porter.

Give me coach Adelman! He actually coached Drexler and Stojakovic, and here, he'll have Garnett playing Webber's role better than C-Webb could.
Back to you.

I'm going for BPA here, and I think high quality wings the caliber of Dr.J are going to be pretty hard to find from here on in.
Back to you.

Does this change the draft order at all? An odd number of rounds means later drafters (from the first round) will be at a slight disadvantage. Given many of these leagues consider the first round the most important and substantially the largest advantage (to the extent some advocate/run non-serpentine but all other rounds reverse order from the first round), should we consider doing the last round in "reverse" order (from the randomizer and 1st round)? Doesn't matter if we don't but thought that it should at least be discussed.

Really tough pick here for me. Two guys that I really, really like. I'm going to select Blake Griffin. I essentially believe that he is a better version of Payton's old running mate. They will be devastating in transition and on the P and R. Griffin is a very good passer as well, which is necessary for me with so many offensively talented players on my roster.

What are you gonna do when the Rick Carlislemania runs wild on you, brother?
This place is a cesspool of mindless ineptitude, mental decrepitude, and intellectual lassitude. I refuse to be sucked any deeper into this whirlpool of groupthink sewage. My opinions have been expressed. I'm going to go take a shower.

Re: All-Time non-Elite Fantasy Draft, Draft Thread
People finally taking coaches. That's cool.
I strongly considered taking Carlisle - it was between Carlisle and Adelman for me, but I went with Adelman because I have Drexler and Peja, both coached by Adelman for quite a few years, and KG playing Webber's role (while also providing vastly superior defensive presence).
I'm not sure if Carlisle would be a great fit for your team. He's certainly a flexible coach, but I'm not sure if run & gun is really his style...Well, you know, the man with the 'stache is still available.

Funny enough, it's something I would seriously consider. We'll see how the draft goes.
D'Antoni's another guy who's poor reputation vastly outstrips his actual flaws. He's become very popular to hate on, but the guy was a straight up brilliant offensive mind and his team's have overachieved everywhere he's been. Lowe put it best on the BS Report Monday, saying something to the effect of "every coach who we consider a genius in the league right now will credit MDA as the #1 influence on his offensive schemes". It's a shame that he's become a punch line, he really doesn't deaerve it.

I agree. I think he deserves a ton of credit for the 2005 Suns' success, and the fact that he saw the potential in Nash, and gave him total freedom offensively.
There's also one more great, but misunderstood, run & gun coach (from the 80s).
