Ehh... I trust my evaluations more than yours, haha. I see 2 elite guys, 2 very good guys, a wild card who could be very good and 3-5 guys who should be decent to above average.

RJeff to San Antonio...looks like one of my latest end of the season waiver wire adds (Luc Richard Mbah a Moute) will be getting some nice attention next year.

Thabeet was the wild card who could be pretty good. So... ranked 5th for me. (But that was also before we knew what teams each guy would be going to.)

I think we need to address the Ricky Rubio situation. He'll be in Spain for two years, but I don't think it's fair to just have him hit the waiver wire when he comes back. What do we do if someone wants to draft him in our upcoming draft?

I agree with Stanford. Although, our draft is a ways off so we might be able to wait and see how the situation plays out.

What do I do with this pesky #2 pick...hmmm

Good question. However we treat Rubio, we'd have to apply to any player that isn't in the NBA that could. Non-rookie examples are players like Nenad Krstic and Josh Childress. I had Nenad at the end of '08 season and dropped him when he went overseas. Though I didn't explore the option, would I've been able to keep him on my fantasy roster, and then put him IL to activate him when he returned. I had no expectations that he would return during the season but he did and I was not able to pick him back up. No big loss since he was mediocre. If Childress enteres back into to the league for enxt season, then I assume he is considered a FA and is open for our draft in September and the manager who gave up on him loses him for nothing except a FA body for the past year.

I think we just need to establish new rules since none exist.

First question is can a FFDL team hold rights to a player not on an NBA roster? If the answer is no, and Rubio is not an NBA roster at the time of our draft, then he cannot be drafted and we wait until he comesto the NBA. If he comes back in the off season, then his availability will be in our rookie/fa draft in September. If he enters the NBafter our draft or during the season, then it's like Krstic last season and whoever has top wavier priority picks him up off Yahoo.

If the answer to the question is yes, then the questions are when can a team acquire the rights and how does that team maintain those rights? My opinion is that you can (1) keep the rights of a player on your roster that leaves the NBA, (2) draft the rigths only during our rookie/FA draft in September, and (3) you can trade for a player whose rigths are held by another FFDL team. Otherwise, a player's rights cannot be picked up. As for maintaining the rights, I think that player would have to occupy a roster spot, but can be placed on the IL after five games into the season. In other words, he is treated as if he is an injured player, but if he is dropped anytime by the team holding his rights, he can only picked up off waivers if he is on an NBA team (through Yahoo during the season) or drafted in the offseason.

This is pretty simple. The Wolves drafted him, so someone in FFDL can draft him. I doubt he won't be on the Yahoo list either way.

Chris, check your email.

Rubio hasn't signed with the Wolves yet. If he doesn't and goes back to Europe, then he won't be on Yahoo, just like Krstic wasn't at the beginning of last season and Chldress for the entire season. Wolves will retain Rubio's rights as the Hawk's still have Childress' rights. We should establish whether players not on an NBA roster should be draftable or picked up and when. Otherwise, could I have picked Childress at the end of last season thinking he might return to the NBA?

If you want to say that 'since Rubio was drafted by an NBA team, he can be drafted in the FFDL', then that is a rule - All players drafted into the NBA is eligible to be drafted in FFDL regardless of whether he is actually in the NBA. Then what about other players oversees. Can we draft only players that have been drafted in the NBA? If not, when are they eligible to be picked up. Take Serge Ibaka (and suppose he was really good). The Thunder drafted him last year and hold his rights, but was not on their roster last year. Suppose I heard last March that he was coming to the U.S. next season, so could I pick him up if he's not in Yahoo or have to wait until this season's FFDL draft?

I'm just saying that there should be well thought out rules as to how you handle players who aren't on NBA rosters. Rubio was brought up because he could very well not be on a roster next season.
