it was at the front of the draft thread... I've moved everything (rules, settings, draft picks, etc.) to the first page of this thread.

I'd respond if I could even understand what you're saying. Personally, I'd love to replace you but I'm not the commissioner. As a result, my role is limited to exposing your mental deficits for everyone else's enjoyment. I saved this league once by insulting competitors and I'll be damned if I can't pull it off again.

I think I missed this. How did you save this league by insulting competitors?

Hey guys... theman brought up 'waiver priorities' to my attention. Since I haven't been the commish for a few years and our rules page has been lost amidst board updates and multiple threads, I couldn't remember how we issued waiver priority. In the FFL, we simply reversed the draft order for it, giving a slight reward to those who landed late draft positions. In here, since draft position is lottery-based, I thought it made more sense to issue waiver priority based on the reverse of last year's standings. So, that's how it was done. Any thoughts?

Guys, I apologize for inviting Apathy to join this league. I don't have a problem with his talking smack and his trades have been solid but he refuses to set his line up. Therefore, I suggest one of three options. He is sitting Evans and Griffin in favor of guys stuck in china and an injured Brook Lopez.

1) Replace him with some one who will set their lineup.

2) Deduct one lottery ball for ever day he sits a player.

3) Lock him out of the first four (an arbitrary number) of picks in next years draft. If anyone remembers when Toronto and Vancouver joined the NBA the had to wait three season before being able to win one of the top two picks in the lottery.

As for waiver. I lost in the lottery landing the two worst slots and now am getting pushed further back on the waiver wire too. I don't really care about the waiver priority since I tend to not put in claims but noticed it and thought I would bring it up.

I am not "refusing" to set my lineup. My lineup is set as we speak and has been set since Day One. From the start I've been one of, if not the, most active owner in the league.

I stated from the get-go I was tanking the season. Yes, you have rules in place to minimize the impact of tanking. I am playing within those rules. Why are you so worried about what I'm doing? What I'm doing is perfectly legal.

If the commish adjusts the rules after the draft to say what I'm doing is illegal, then lol, I'd ditch the league anyway. If enough people bitch to put pressure on the commish to adjust the rules after the draft, then lol I'd ditch the league anyway. If I'm wrong and I am breaking the rules (I double-checked before I did this so I highly doubt it and asked the commish for the rules on the league message board) I'll correct my mistake.

Otherwise stop crying.

EDIT:

The funny thing is my current strategy is to take 0's from every matchup I play. That doesn't affect the league in any way because everyone gets a perfect score against me, thereby evening the playing field.

But since you keep opening your mouth I can just play my best guys against you and you only and give you extra losses that you would otherwise not have.

And for the last time:

I DO NOT GIVE A **** IF YOU REPLACE ME WITH ANOTHER OWNER. Find one and I'll willingly give up my team. This goes for anyone in the league. I strongly feel I'm way better than everyone else in this league and have nothing to prove. I know you guys have been butt-buddies with each other for a while so if you can't handle a ruthless competitor I understand. Frankly I was unimpressed by my ability to pick up Klay Thompson and Nikola Vucevic for free, not to mention my swindling of whatever sucker thought Anthony Randolph was going to get playing time. I won't miss you guys, believe me. It'll give me a good reason not to check Real GM anymore and cut more unproductive Internet hours out of my life.

We have always had a gentleman's aggreement if you like to call it that, to at least set your roster appropriatly. Tanking is frowned upon, so any way of doing it is frowned upon.

I'm all for smack talk and competitiveness, but this is plain narcissistic. Apathy wants to be the center of attention and doesn't care (I get the name now) how that attention is garnered. It's rather child-like.

We may be a bunch of "butt buddies" who have been in the league together for a while, but what that also means is some of us are older. "Competitive" doesn't have to mean "immature". This isn't a bunch of teenagers playing counter-strike or an online penis-measuring contest.

I think it's obvious what my vote is. Even if he stops benching active players for non-active ones, I'm sure there's more bs waiting for us down the road.

That's funny, because my plan is to bench my entire team when I play you to give you more wins.

I also encourage all managers to do the same. I quick study of game theory shows that if will all do this Apathy loses.

Apathy, come on man .. just play! As others have mentioned, you don't get a major advantage out of tanking .. the last 3 or 4 spots get the same number of lotto balls .. and with your team you will not do better than that .. even if you tried!

Apathy:

One issue is fairness. Even if you tank equally for each matchup, I happen to have the only team to play yours twice. From a final standings perspective, that could make a difference in one team making the playoffs or not, or who gets a bye week. It's the same way in real life too. If there is a wild card birth at stake, you don't want the competing team playing a team that's decided to play only the scrubs.

Another (and this is an individual thing), but I like knowing that my competition gave forth its best effort against me. Right, it's great, I beat you 7-2 but it's not satisfying knowing you were tanking. Though if I were to guess, I'd still win, but likely 6-3 if you had put out your best possible line up each day.

Apathy, perhaps the definition of 'tanking' is loose; so, let us define things. 'Tanking' is allowed in the sense that you can obviously rebuild and do not have to put forth the most competitive team that you possible can at all times. Out of respect to the game/league, though... we do expect each Manager to be active, competitive and put forth their best effort with the direction that they're taking. Otherwise, we have people deliberately losing matchups and a half-dozen team sitting players, trying to get more lottery balls. This sucks all of the fun out of things for everybody and has never been tolerated. This is not a rule change, just a rule clarification so you know where everybody is coming from. Also, our lottery system was deliberately weighted to ensure that the benefits of [your version of] tanking were minimal.
