FFML - Draft time TBD

Post#1 » by floppymoose » Thu Sep 27, 2012 1:03 am

So let's get the ball rolling on rules and on draft timing.

First off I'm proposing keeping things as consistent as possible with FFL. Now that FFLL has dropped the IL, the only significant difference I can think of between this league and FFL (besides the live auction draft) is the # of max moves.

We did 3 per week last season.
FFL is 45 for the entire regular season.

Pick which option you like best and post here.

Also, we have an odd number of teams at the moment who have joined the league. Who is it who is missing?

Here is the list of teams/users:

I emailed the currently registered members of the league with a poll link for choosing what time window to do the live draft. It will go to whatever email you set for your fantasy email in the league. The time windows are 3 hour chunks from 6am through 9pm San Francisco time, Thu Oct 25 through Mon Oct 29. Vote yes to any that work for you.

This weekend (Oct. 25 - Oct. 28) is terrible for me. I'm out of town starting Thursday afternoon, and won't be back until Sunday night. Weddings, Concerts, and driving back and forth across the State will keep me pretty booked solid. If it's okay with everyone else, is there any chance of a date shift? Monday works best for me, and Sunday night would be manageable, but if the date falls on the 25th, 26th, or 27th, I may have to bow out for this year (or rely on custom-ranks...but that's no fun).

And 3 per week sounds fine to me.

That's as good as any for me, though I'll only be able to be on for about 90 minutes.

There is. We only have 11 at the moment. We need an even number to do head to head. Do you want an invite?

if it's live yeah but wait when is the draft? since I'm 7 hours ahead of East and 10 hours ahead of Pacific, it may be a problem.

I also prefer a sooner start too.

Also, is it possible to do an afternoon start time...anything earlier than the current 6pm PDt time?

So Floppy doesn't get stuck with another Channing Frye situation :D .

But I'll ask again, would it be cool if we moved it back (unless Monday wins out) I'm fairly booked solid that weekend of the 25th 26th 27th and most of the 28th. I could try to find a way if i absolutely have to, but like I said...Weddings and Concerts and Driving will make it difficult. Again, if I'm the only one don't cater to little ol' me, but if it's not a big deal and Monday doesn't work...it'd help me out to move it to another day.

I can offer earlier times on the poll if you want. I'm a bit confused by sabonis's question. I don't know why anyone would want to draft earlier than right before season start (aside from scheduling conflicts). Certainly that's the way most fantasy players feel - the days right before season start are the busiest draft times.

Break, I can't answer your question except to say I can offer earlier times on the poll. Aside form that it's up to the voting and you have to hope a time that works for you wins out.

edit: I've added the preceding sunday through wednesday to the draft times poll. It's humongous now. Update your votes accordingly.

One thing to note about the draft time choices is that they were meant to be 3 hour windows *starting* at the time listed. But since Yahoo offers draft start times from 6am PST to 8:45pm PST, that makes the 9PM slot I listed rather meaningless. If a 9pm slots wins the voting we'll be looking at an 8:45pm draft time at the latest.

If you were wondering why I didn't offer times outside of 6am to 9pm, that is why. Drafts just aren't offered then.
