It was not just insane, it was an INSTANT CLASSIC. Tipsarevic played in a whole 'nother league throughout the match and he has to be the most reislient nobody (soon to be somebody) who has ever pushed Roger to the edge.

This is the type of match people will talk about for ages--what could 've been?--and it is definitely one of the most thrilling matches I've ever seen. To see Tipsa take two out of the first three hotly contested sets, lose the fourth handily--appearing totally out of it, and then wage one hell of a wild back-and-forth marathon fifth is nothing short of a flashbulb moment.

Tipsarevic gave it his all and frustrated Federer a ton, knew once Federer took the 4th that he'd win the 5th (even if it was a classic set).

Marco and Hewitt each have a set as it's almost 2:30 in the morning in Australia as Marco has a break on Hewitt in the 3rd at the moment.
Marco turned his ankle bad not long ago but he's fighting.

I have been watching the Aussie open and wow has the mens side picked up in the 3rd round.

I was hoping Donald Young and Isner would make some noise but they both lost in the 1st.

Kohlschrieber played amazing, I was really impressed with the quality of that match from both players.

Now, I am really looking forward to the Tsonga and Gasquet match. I saw Tsonga's first round match, and he looked really impressive.

I saw this. Marco left in tears and Hewitt stayed on the bench thinking "Holy s***!". Great match.

As bad as the Dementieva-Sharapova match was, it was the hottest girl on girl porn movie ever, at least it sounded like one.

After crushing Shahar Peer, you'd think Dementieva would at least hold up a fight against Sharapova. Ugh. Another Grand Slam and another exit.

Despite her feeble serve, I still contend she was one of the best active players never to win a Grand Slam event during the early-mid 2000s in a stacked WTA field.

These women tennis players from Europe are so cute.

Damn Ferrero just lost again. His game basically regressed after that surgery in 2004, when he was just starting to peak.

WOW!! Sharapova just owned Henin!!!!!

I was hoping Maria could put up a fight against Henin, but never did I imagine that she would utterly control the match and even bagel Henin in the second set! 6-4, 6-0 AMAZING!!

Also, another shocker that Serena lost pretty easily against Jancovic too! Expected Serena to make it to the finals for sure.

Here's hoping for a Sharapova - Hantuchova finals.

Not just for aesthetic purposes either. Hantuchova has a very good chance at her first Grand Slam semifinals. Finally! It feels like she's been around since the beginning of time.

Sharapova was amazing there. Could she be finally turning into the player we imagined after '04 Wimbledon?

Personal comment, I really like Ivanovic. Undoubtedly the hotness helps, but beyond that she just seems enthusiastic and grateful for where she is.

I'm pretty surprised that Williams and Henin are out as well. I think its just a blip though that all three are out before the semis.

For the finals I'd like to see Sharapova and Ivanovic for a good match. I don't think Hantuchova will beat Ana and Jankovic has a good chance against Sharapova, unless Maria plays as good as she did against Henin, then I give her an edge.

Also, Daniella in her post-match interview looks WAY HOT with her hair down. I think she gained a few pounds too which is good.

Yea jeez, i am sooo going to watch the Ivanovic vs. Hantuchova match. Not only for the tennis, which is probably going to be a win win situation for me

Problem is that Hantuchova hasn't beaten anybody big to get to this point. But still, the fact that she's in a Grand Slam semis is an accomplishment. Quite amazing that the her last deepest finish in any Grand Slam event was 5 years ago. Hantuchova doesn't do any one thing particularly well but I'm hoping her solid all-around game can produce a surprise upset.

i also have the question, has sharapova finally make that break through to be that dominant player or did henin had a real bad day.

and both williams eliminated by serbian players, very solid performances by ivanovic and jankovic.

and federer having "trouble" beating blake, but as usual, he goes on. so, i think, now, whatever happens he will continue to be #1, right?

Although I still think that Henin, Williams sisters and Kuznetsova still have a lot left, people will have to start realizing that a new wave of talent will be battling in the top 5 and 10 for years to come.

The era of Henin, Serena, Venus, Mauresmo, Clijsters, Davenport, Dementieva is slowly moving towards a new era of players. In the next 5 years people should get used to the names of Chakvetadze, Jankovic, Ivanovic, Vaidisova and if they haven't already, Maria Sharapova.

Then there's already the next set of future top 10 players that people are already raving about on the tour. Agnes Szavay, Alona Bondarenko, Victoria Azarenka, Agnieksa Radwanska.

Then there's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The junior that is on the verge of winning her third straight Australian Open Junior title and has been ranked first on the junior circuit for 3 years now.

It's a very exciting time in women's tennis right now with so much talent breaking through and coming out at the same time.

Sharapova played pretty well today, though too bad Jankovic was abit hurt. Hoping Maria can win her third title!

Ivanovic/Hantuchova, I feel bad for Daniella, she got robbed abit in the 3rd set. Serving down 5-4 30-40, Ana challenges a ball that was in and instead of Daniella getting the point and being deuce, they have to replay it and she loses the next point and her serve and that was game, set, match.

They say Daniella and Ana are suppose to be friends, but that handshake at the end was definitely not too friendly. Oh well. Maria vs. Ana is definitely more competitive than Daniella vs. Maria. Just seems like Hantuchova can't hold it together for a whole match for some reason.

Well I can answer that last question: Sharapova played really good. Henin honestly played well enough that I think she'd have beaten any other woman in this tournament with that performance. So yeah the only question, and it is a big one: Can Sharapova do this consistently?
