What a game. That game lasted as long as one of Serena's sets.

I was so close to writing Djokovic off after that third set. Wow! I wonder if Wawrinka can consistently join the men's elite with Murray, Djokovic, and Federer (say what you want, but I still haven't written him off that list just yet).

Good match. Wawrinka had his opportunities to win but couldn't pull it out. At the end of the day, Djokovic is just too good.

He's going through a late career surge, like Fish and Tispsarevic did recently.

Pretty gutted for Stan, that was an awesome match though. Expecting the Nadal/Gasquet match to be much more straightforward.

I said it before and I'll say it again. US Open and French are the two worst slams BY FAR. The extremely poor attendance for both is just so damn disappointing that it really takes the excitement and electricity out of the matches. Its the freaking semis and its still not nowhere near close to filled to capacity for the matches. Just so damn sad.

Top 2 seeds in both singles tournaments, with the winner having a really strong case for Player of the Year. Excellent.

Actually I feel like he is playing very average right now.

She is dominant no doubt but right now her competition is weaker than ever....

Djokovic is self-destructing like Murray against Wawrinka. Sad to say but Wawrinka would play better against Nadal right now. Nadal would destroy current Djokovic.

Oh sure Serena is in a weaker competition but still I haven't seen her bring this kind of intensity for the duration of an entire tournament and li na is no bum either but she was helpless yesterday

Its bizarre that she started to become so much more consistent this late in her career. That was always my biggest concern. I don't think Li Na is a bum either but I don't consider her a great player either. Serena's greatest opponent is Azaranka. I don't think very highly of her but I guess I can't penalize Serena for outlasting the competition(a lot of great WTA players retired) and for still playing at a very high level at her age.

To me he is the third best player in the NBA - Luka and Embiid are comfortably ahead of him.

I've always thought that the combination of her inconsistency with what has been terribly spotty competition basically for the past decade should leave a far bigger stain on her legacy than it seems to have. People just are so eager to assume that prior generations were weaker, and on the men's side that's absolutely right, but not on the women's.

But Serena has an opportunity to really silence my criticism if she can keep this up. While we can debate about how tough the competition is now, no one seriously questions Serena's play when she's on her game, and if she ends up having the dominance now that she was expected to have when she was younger, that's at least as impressive. She still has a ways to go though.

Too bad about Stan. He played his heart out. Novak is too experienced at this point and knew if he could stick around, the momentum would swing in his favour.

I'm done cheering for specific players as I seem to be a complete jinx for anyone I mention lol (bagoverhead).

Finally, so this is the FINAL of a GRAND SLAM and it is not shown on any regular TV station? They're practically begging for fans to use streaming sites just to screw them for their money grab. Ok, then!

Anyone else dislike Azarenka? I don't like Serena either but I want her to absolutely crush Vika right now. Someone needs to shut her the hell up.

Thanks. I don't think it was on from the beginning, so maybe they let the other program end first. Cheers :D

Each is annoying for different reasons. The only grunter I ever cheered for was Seles. The grunting seems more like gamesmanship than a necessity, certainly when opponents complain that the screaming masks the sound of the ball when hit. I don't know how true that is, but it's aggravating to listen to either way.

I think Serena has this in the bag, unless she falls apart again
