The French Open is the worst of the four grandslams BY FAR! Every single year there's so many empty seats and hardly any crowd enthusiam. Just about the only time you'll ever see a packed stadium is for the finals and maybe near full for the semis and that's it. Compare that to Wimbledon or AO where even in the early rounds the venues are all pretty full and the crowds are really into the matches. Oh well end rant. :)

i wonder if Federer and Nadal are opposite draws this year? I would LOVE to see them make it to the finals and beat Nadal for a real French Open win. Soderling was just a punching bag last year.

I can the same thing about the US open and I think we've had that debate before.

Yes there's plenty of empty seats at the US Open as well, but not as much as the French though. And at least at the US Open you have better atmosphere especially during the night matches where the crowds will make some noise. The French crowd has been nearly completely dead throughout the whole tournament so far.

And also I can't believe Federer lost to Soderling!! And in the quarters too! Ending his grandslam semi finals streak at 23!!?!! Damn I wanted that streak to go on FOREVER!! :(

I'm just wondering what motivates this guy? 23 semifinals in a row, that means 6 years at the top, fantastic player. I can't see anybody in the near future to accomplish something like this!

What I think hammers in the streak: Now that Federer's streak has been snapped at 23, there are 4 guys tied for the longest streak: The 4 semi-finalists of the French who each have a streak of 1.

Other thoughts on the French: Excited to see what Soderling and Stosur can amount to. I don't expect Soderling to beat Nadal, but if he does, he'll have firmly established himself as a player to be remembered. I expect Stosur to win the French, but can she maintain this level of play afterward?

Schiavone, wow. Upset win in the final over Stosur. Italy finally has a champion.

Looks like Stosur will have to settle for runner-up. It's a shame, but it's still a great effort to get that far.

I thought Stosur would take ti, but Schiavone played really good especially in the tie break. She wasn't nervous as I expected she would be.

I was surprised by Schiavone too. Stosur looked great going in. Good match by both ladies though.

The men's final is disappointing me. I thought Soderling would put up a better fight. He just doesn't have it today.

Just way, way, way too good on clay. Rafa didn't even have to break a sweat the entire tournament. Good to see him back in top form. What a beast. Wimbledon is going to be awesome.

And props to Daniel Nestor. 6th Slam for him in doubles. :rocking:

Damn, did Nadal even lose a set in this Slam?

I don't remember him losing one but I'm not sure about the 3rd round game.
