Wimbeldon 2010

Post#1 » by Slava » Tue Jun 22, 2010 4:59 am

The worst possible time for a tourney of Wimberldon's importance with the world cup going on. I wonder how badly the ratings might plummet unless England get kicked out soon.

Anyone see the score of the fifth set of Isner-Mahut?

This Isner-Mahut 5th set is beyond epic. Craziest thing I'll ever see in tennis. 28-28.

Damn, I wonder if they'll play long enough for it to be stopped again. The freaking sun is setting.

I wonder how many players think a tiebreaker in the 5th set isn't so bad now. Isner looks exhausted. Mahut on the other hand...

58-58.

This is bananas. Straight up the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in any sport. This is like a basketball game going to 15 OTs. Just stupid.

This game has already beaten, no, KILLED, several all-time tennis records : longest match (what is it now ? 10 hours ?), biggest number of games, of aces also (last time I've heard, Isner had something like 80 aces), and probably others...

Btw, tomorrow, the winner gets to play his second round after he wins...

I don't know either player. I don't even like tennis. But I was just captivated from the moment I turned it on when it was like 27-27. Amazing.

If their match ever ends...

No, but are you serious? That's messed up.

Mahut will probably win pretty quick tomorrow, IMO. There's no way Isner will be able to even move.

Dead serious. They'll give him a couple of hours, but that's it.

Ah, my bad, apparently the organizers were merciful, they put the game at 3:30pm, and postponed the winner's second round to friday. They do have both men's doubles games on the schedule ('not before 6pm', they say  ), but they can always forfeit those (and they probably will).

Whoever wins would need a couple days of rest. Can they even get up tomorrow?
