I love playing golf. I hit a 72 once; unfortunately I then had to play the back nine.

About to buy my very first set. Looking at just a $300 starter set, there's no need to spend more as a beginner is there?

I wouldn't spend much on your first set, IMO. Borrow someone else's, get used to something, see what you like...then go from there.

You can hire clubs at the course. Usually like $15 for the round and $20 for the clubs. Expensive but cheaper than spending $400 on clubs and realising you hate golf.

Cameron Studio series putter (got it for $100 in the states

- old model or something)
Ping G-10 driver
Adams Hybrid (don't know which one, but it's my favourite club)
Cleveland CG-14 60 (2nd favourite)
Titleist Vokey 54 (beyond rusted these days)
Taylor Made Burner Irons
Got all this stuff for about 1k in the States a few years ago (would probably cost you 3k in Aust.). Was probably playing off about 15 at that time. Just picked the game up again in the last month or so after a good 2-3 years off. Starting to hit them okay after a pretty tedious feeling out period ha.

He played okay (by his lofty standards). Had a great day on Sunday but make some bad mistakes which I'm sure would frustrate him. Definitely still has 'it' just has to put it together for more than 36. Interesting to see how he goes in the President's Cup.

I miss golf. I was a member at Devil Bend GC for 2 years about a decade ago but now only get time about 3 times a year. I'm aiming to take it up again when my old body can't take basketball/boxing anymore.

Make sure you have the set fitted to your right length. I still use my first set of clubs although I upgrade the woods and wedges along the way. I also have a super sexy putter.

Coming off a Major Medical Exemption, G. DeLaet could secure his card for next year tomorrow.
I'll be watching.
