Track & Field

Post#1 » by EArl » Thu May 9, 2013 8:01 am

I didn't see this topic in the directory. Anyone here a fan?
I love watching pretty much and distance or field event.

i have a friend that won the 400 meter hurdles (Jeshua Anderson) and he will be trying to get into the next olympics. He was eliminated in the olympic trials last year.

BTW
I run the 1500 and 800 meter race. I also throw the Javelin.

Only found the thread now....huge fan also, been following competitions even before I started liking basketball

Apparently Tyson Gay was caught doping....a damn shame,he had a remarkable season (doping helped) but he was the only serious competition Bolt would get in Moscow,in the 100 m at least

Anyway, looking forward to the World Championships,I hope we can find more posters interested to have a talk around here

Not only Gay, but also Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson were nabbed. Previously, Veronica Campbell-Brown was also busted.

Cynical comment: T&F is doing its best to outdo the cyclists.
Non-cynical comment: now, Usain Bolt could run in flipflops and still win the 100.

Edit: holy crap, now Nesta Carter and "two additional Jamaican athletes" were busted, too!

Anyone worth mentioning out of the other two jamaicans or some smaller names?

Funny how the jamaicans were doping too....I live in a country in which anti americanism is common and some were all over the Gay news but you couldn't hear anything about Powell....."americans are the biggest cheaters and cheat their way in every sport to get on top" is the mentality here, whether is doping or paying refs in sports like gymnastics

Can't wait to get out of this sh*thole

Yeah its a shame Gay was doping.
I remember when Gatlin got caught.

List of sprinters who ran 9.79 or quicker, certified dopers in boldface:

Ben Johnson
Maurice Greene
Justin Gatlin
Tim Montgomery
Nesta Carter
Asafa Powell
Tyson Gay
Yohan Blake

Usain Bolt

You do the math :-?

I'm pretty sure that Maurice Greene was also heavily in doping controversy although not being caught with a positive test.

Probably every single sprinter that reaches a final in Olympics/world championships is a cheater.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/all-sydney-100m-finalists-doped/story-fn9dheyx-1226172423938

It is like it is. They should just allow doping in sports like cycling, weight lifting and athletics.

You are not winning any major event in these sports without cheating in some way. Let the athletes decide themselves whether they want to destroy their body by using drugs.

I was shocked at this.

It was buried in the back of these news sites but to me this is very big news. These guys are 2 of the premier sprinters and to see this, it's such a shame!

Don't think it's big news. Pretty much only a confirmation of what has been known before.
I don't want to know how many NFL/NBA players are using doping either with the leagues lax anti doping policies.

Omg..
This is awful.
But hey at least Bolt will actually run a good time unlike that year Kim Collins won in like 10:07 ..

Olympic sprinter Yohan Blake of Jamaica has withdrawn from the world championships in Moscow next month due to a nagging hamstring injury.

Jamaica relay team in trouble...

Is Asafa Powell still in though. Nvm..him and Gay tested positive -_-

Meanwhile...

Justin Gatlin: Athletics is still credible despite failed drug tests

As much as I hate to say it, I'm pretty sure the 2012 race was just as doped up as the 1988 race. 10 years ago if someone ran the 100m in under 9.8 it was huge. Now you have to do it just to medal.

I agree. I think Bolt will be caught for doping some day.

Looks like Bolt wants to race Mo Farah in the 600.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/others ... Farah.html

I doubt that Bolt could win at that distance.
The majority of short sprinters are not good after 200 meters.
