Which strategies to use against aggressive tennis players?

Aggression spread aggression. It is easy just to follow the other player and bang harder back. You need to outsmart the other player somehow particularly if you are about the same level or you feel you may not last long enough in the tempo.

What kind of strategies have you used to outsmart an aggressive tennis player?

it's easy to answer, you have to let him do things he likes to do less….so you have to attack him

Well in general the rule for strategy is to anticipate what he's going to do, and thus do something he won't be prepared for.

So if you know a guy is going to charge the net, consider a topspin lob.

There's a case to be made against this of course. If you can simply pass him with a winner as he approaches to the net, which would literally be beating aggression with aggression, it's a great strategy to use, and in modern's men's tennis, this is whats' done, and what keeps the serve & volley game from being as common as in the past. It just all depends on your strengths though.
