French Open 2015

Post#1 » by Hero » Mon Apr 27, 2015 5:45 am

This could be it. Novak's opportunity to win all 4 in a year.

I think Rafa doesn't win given his form.

Nole is such a heavy favorite. I would be shocked to see him lose. This slam is his for the taking.

He could end up playing Nadal then Murray before the finals which is brutal.

Even so. Novak has been a monster this year. I wouldn't bet against him. Getting married has focused up the man.

Well Rafa and Djokovic, the two favorites, are now officially playing in the quarterfinals. What a joke of a draw. French Open/ATP are shooting themselves in the foot here. Not reseeding on a very unique surface is just silly--as well as having a 1 seed play the 6 in anything but the finals. Oh well--hope it's a classic, although it being in the quarters kinda prevents it from being one.
WTB what a dope choice of pics for pp! PURE VELVET dogg! How can we lose with our captain looking like a cross between bishop don juan and iceburg slim?

Will Nadal win another slam. Turned 29 today.

Novak just dominated him.

What a dominating performance by Djokovic. Absolutely no chance for Nadal today.

And that's happening on Rafa's birthday. Ouch.

Man cant believe I am saying this..but Nadal is done for good now. Those injuries got the best of him I would have never expected such a big fall off by one of the greatest to ever do it. When its all said and done though, I still think Nadal will be the greatest to ever play on Clay..that 70-2 record is no joke.

Nadal is injury-free.
No knee issues in 2013-2015.
The problem this year is confidence (and that's because he didn't play much in the 2nd half of 2014 because of the wrist injury and appendicitis).
Sometimes you can't get confidence back in time for the big events.
But, not a bad year, QF of the Australian Open, QF of the French Open.
Still in with a chance at each slam.
Wimbledon is a good thing for him, because he will be forced to flatten out his groundstrokes more.
He had them flatter in 2013-2014 (when he swept the US Summer 17-0 in 2013, and made the AO Final in 2014), but hasn't had the confidence in 2015 yet, so hitting too loopy.
The way he played today's quarter-final was the same as his approach to 2011 Roland Garros - and that worked vs Federer.
And it would have worked today if he was playing Federer, but he was playing Djokovic.

Nadal will drop to 10th in the rankings. I believe if Tsonga wins his match Nadal will drop to 11th. This is the lowest since he broke into the scene as a teenager.

How do you not schedule play to give them enough time to finish both semifinals? Without lights or a roof you simply have to start earlier. Pretty ridiculous imo.

Yet as soon as Nadal wins a 15th slam title all everyone will be talking about is Nadal vs Federer and the 17 slam record.
Nadal is the only reason why tennis will be popular again (for the first time since Sampras-Agassi ruled the world).
Nadal-Federer is the sport's only hope, even if Federer isn't winning slams.

That was a phenomenal fourth set by Stan. Well done.
