Andy Murray: On a roll

Post#1 » by Slava » Thu Jan 8, 2009 10:47 pm

Beats Federer in straight sets and then later Nadal in 3 in the finals to win in Dubai, now again faces Federer in Qatar semifinals after Nadal loses to Gael Monfils.

Murray win sets up Federer clash

Murray beat Stanislas Wawrinka in last year's final

Britain's Andy Murray set up a semi-final clash with Roger Federer after a comfortable 6-4 6-2 win over Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky in the Qatar Open.

Stakhovsky posed the defending champion problems until fatigue seemed to set in towards the end of the first set.

After winning the opening set in 41 minutes, the world number four turned on the style with some beautiful lob and drop shots as his opponent wilted.

He's been the most impressive in build up to Aussie open so far and it isn't just because the big dogs are resting their feet either. He's beating top quality players and could make the leap that we expected of him pretty soon.

It's a real shame Murray played so poorly in his first grand slam final. It is clear he matches up perfectly with Federer and would have won had he overcome the nerves. I doubt Murray will choke in his next slam final.

i think many of us have kept murray out of the possibilities of a grand slam when he could be a huuuge surprise and has the tools to win them all!

Yeah he this must be his year. He beat Fedex and then brushed aside Roddick in the final to win the tournament in Doha, Qatar.
