A great day in Turkish tennis history: Marsel Ilhan makes it to the 2nd round.

Re: The US Open 2009 thread
I think Ivanovic needs to take some time off from tennis and get her head back on straight. A first round loss at the US Open to a nobody?? Really now? Not sure what's wrong with her really, but her tennis hasn't been the same since she won the French. Since then its been a downward spiral.
Also its interesting that Safina whom Ana beat for the title is also taking a major dive in her career. Both are some of the worst women's world #1s in recent memory.

Re: The US Open 2009 thread
Seriously man re: Ivanovic, I had such high hopes for her to be someone really good for 3-4 years but its been disappointing since that grand slam win. Safina's dip in form is making woman's tennis seem too predictable. We're probably watching the worst talent pool ever.

Re: The US Open 2009 thread
Whoa, Roger has his work cut out for him this year. Hewitt is no pushover, and bigger names are in his side of the bracket (Blake, Robredo, Soderling, Davydenko, Djokovic, Roddick, Haas, Verdasco) compared to Nadal/Murray's bracket (Tsonga, Gonzalez, Monfils, Ferrer, Del Potro, Simon).

The Americans this year are makin pretty good strides, especially that teenager who beat Dementieva. Haven't been this patriotic since 2002

Super-duper win by Taylor Dent in the 5th set in the 2nd round.....so happy that he's up & at it again after that horrible stuff he went thru 2 years ago....

Wow, who the hell is this lady? First Dementieva, then Sharapova...

Knocked out. Isner played a good game but Roddick just ran out of tricks to pull himself out of trouble. Good game overall.

Just saw the point of the tournament between Nadal and Monfilfs.

This is looking like it'll be another Federer-Nadal finals. Murray just got knocked off by Cilic.

Fun match between Soderling and Fed. So boring for the first two sets (although it was good to see Roger pull out the A game) but it was pretty awesome once Soderling stepped it up.
22 Grand Slam semis in a row. Unbelievable.
Djokovic and Fed should be fun.

I actually think Del Porto has a good chance to knocked off Nadal. Not saying he's going to do it but he's playing like a monster right now and you never know how that ab strain is going to affect Rafa.

Re: The US Open 2009 thread
I'm hoping Djokovic vs Federer doesn't turn out to be a damp affair and we see an actual contest there. Rafa vs Del Potro should be solid.
