Ok that was a fun draft that likely had a bunch of us spending time on YouTube late into the night scouting some players we just drafted.
Now onto free agency we still have a choice to make to either operate over the cap or under the cap with us likely looking to clear even more money with a salary dump of Adams if we want to make a big splash...like Lavine.
I think as of now are biggest needs is a sixth man guard that can also handle some PG duties in a pinch, and I also think we need another vet in a frontcourt with some shooting.
So here is some trade ideas I have been brainstorming assuming that we are likely going to stay over the cap. Will do a under the cap version soon too.
1. Adams and 2nds for Eric Gordon. Gordon had a bounce back year and really fills a need even if we bring back Jones. He is a good shooter that can bring the ball up and is a underrated defender (not good, but not a liability either). He is expiring so it not a long term commitment. This allows us to target the frontcourt with what is left of the MLE after likely using a sliver on Chandler to get him more money and us more years/options on his deal. MLE options in Bamba/Jalen Smith/Boucher/Portis type that can shoot and hopefully defend and rebound well enough. This is assuming Anderson is not coming back.
********Alt version with Houston is Adams/lottery protected 2023 1st for Gordon and either KJ Martin or Tate. I like Martin for more upside but Tate is the better overall player now if that is our focus.
2. Adams/LP 1st for Isaac. This is our big swing for the fence attempt to land a possible core player. Isaac's injuries are scary but the potential pairing of him and JJJ if it pans out is best defensive frontcourt in the NBA by a mile with enough shooting to keep things open for Ja. Isaac's contract is now only gtd for 7.4m in 2023 and UG in 2024 so that mediates some of the risk. Orlando is likely open to moving him with Banchero, Carter and maybe Bamba back in the frontcourt. This opens up the MLE for us to target a guard....Bruce Brown, Monk, DDV, GP2, Wright, Schroeder, Rubio, Olidipo.
********Alt version would be Adams/LP 1st +? for Carter. Carter demonstrated enough shooting and can guard in space well enough that I think he would be a good pairing with both JJJ and Clarke. But I think Orlando might see Carter as more of a core player and less likely to trade him than Isaac, so not sure how big the + needs to be here for Orlando to make this trade.
So would you do it? And which trades do you like the most and least?

Those are good ideas, but I doubt that they are on our FO table right now. We have cleared 26mln of cap space and, to be honest, I have idea for what purpose. Gobert? Aython? Bridges? Robinson? Unlikely. I don’t also believe Zach is willing to trade future assets. Therefore, I will stay silent on predictions and rather listen to you folks.
I also think that we are a PO team as is.

Green is going to be either 6.5m (125% +100K to match 8.25m) GTD or fully GTD 10m. So at 6.5 million we are at roughly 103m salary not counting Jones/Anderson cap holds. That is with out two 1st round picks holds, not including Chandler's 2nd round deal or any 2 way salaries. I doubt we want to stretch waive Green unless we are for sure operating over the cap next year. We likely just pay what it takes to dump him all the way cash + 2nd or two if we need that space too.
I don't think trading 2nds or a 2023 1st would be much of a determent in a trade for Memphis. We are still in good shape there. I think we likely shop for an Adams for cap space trade to have in our back pocket while we see if a bigger name wants to sign here and either clear the space or work a SNT. These trades I am proposing are once we determine that none of the big fish want to come here and we decide to operate as an over the cap team.
And yes with health we are a PO team as is, but I think we are past the point of being just a PO team and if we can use some minor assets to improve our odds of advancing we will do it.

I think Green will be $5m guaranteed and the deal done the 22-23 season. So we are at like 22m in cap space right now.
I also would be okay with the Isaac trade but think neither trade will ultimately happen. Gordon would be good but I think we may want Adams as our starting center more. Issac I don't think Orlando would let go that cheap though honestly they should try to move him.

I think with Philly been a tax team the matching of Melton would have to fall into 125% +100k. Which I think is closer to 6.5m than 5m. I have not seen anything yet about his GTD yet, we may have just GTD it all to use a trade filler later or maybe Green himself could contribute in the playoffs for us too. I am hoping we just waive him for a smaller amount and maybe dip into the FA game.

Re: Would you do it #2. Post Draft
I do agree that a sixth man is definitely a target to seek. Whether Steven Adams will be put on the table to acquire said sixth man. That's hard to say. Just like last night's draft. I had such a difficult time to hone down on who the Grizzlies could target due to where the Grizzlies stand as of right now. With the team being very young and gaining more experiences, they are at the point where they can stand to sprinkle a couple of vets around the team. most specifically on the offense side of the ball.
Potential Sixth Men material:
Eric Gordon
Malik Monk
Terrence Ross
Dante DiVincenzo
Gary Harris
As for PGs:
I would rather the Grizzlies keep Tyus Jones as not only he fits with the team. He brings that synergy balance to the roster as the PG that keeps the tempo going strong on the floor finding players and getting them in good position to score points. In the event that teams like the Knicks, Celtics, or Wizards take their shot at TJ and he chooses to leave, then the Grizzlies will have to look for an ideal replacement. Who can that player be is the question.

I think we need a little more creation in a sixth than most of these guys offer. Gordon is not the greatest at it, but he by far the best of that group. Harris and DDV would be good Melton replacements.
IF Tyus Jones leaves then we will be in a lurch. The PG market is barren with likely 4-5 teams offering Tyus the full MLE or more. I wonder if we could get him on a one year balloon payment like a 1/16+ or something like a 2/25 to beat out some of the offers, but the chance to be a starter might be too depending to pass up for him. If he leaves the best FA options are likely Wright and Schroder and neither are great fits. Rubio would be OK if we can wait for him to return from injury later in the year.

If I'm not mistaken, the Grizzlies already had Delon Wright before from the Marc Gasol trade from nearly four years ago.. Schoeder from the attitude standpoint isn't someone I think the Grizzlies are willing to take some interest in.
You're right. The PG market is very barren. Especially if Tyus Jones decides to move on to a team who can guarantee him a starter's position if that what he desires. I would've mention Rubio, but he will not be playing until mid January or February depending on his recovery time. One player I wouldn't mind the Grizzlies take a look at is Miye Oni. The combo guard who played with the Jazz. Granted he didn't get the playing time while he was with the team. From previous footage I've seen from him. He's capable on both ends, from passing, defense and some offense when needed. He just need an opportunity with the right team.
