In which way? It’s not like a season ending injury.
Yeah but I think he will come in a bit rusty and won't be able to make a leap. We should be in an okay spot by the playoffs, but I feel like it takes away some of the pressure to win this season which allows us to wait until next offseason for an all-in move. If something pops up this offseason then great, but I really haven't been jealous of any deal outside of maybe the Brogdon deal. We took some late flyers in this draft, hopefully will get 1-3 rotation players out of it, and then go all in next offseason (or at the deadline this year) if a good win-now opportunity pops up.
3J will definitely be rusty that's for sure. He will have to deal with another season where he will struggle to get back in touch with his game once more after playing off a solid season this year.
In terms of the moves in the offseason. I wonder what if the Phoenix chemistry will function the same with the DeAndre Ayton saga coming to an end after they match the Pacers offer sheet(which puts them over 15 million in luxury tax for the first time since 2009-2010 season). Along with the appearances of internal dysfunction among Coach Williams and Ayton, the cheap methods of owner Robert Sarver, and the collapse of the playoff series vs. Dallas.
The Wolves new move with Rudy Gobert at center and sliding KAT to PF. Sure the Wolves improve in the paint defensively with Gobert at center. However, KAT is still KAT even at PF. Still a threat offensively, but a liability on defense. The Grizzlies and the rest of the west will find out when the season starts later this year.
To Malcolm Brogdan, I've always thought he was a better sixth man overall than the starter he was back in Indy. Granded he did what he could for Indy while he was there. Once Indy turned the page on their roster, Brogdan's time as a Pacer was coming to an end.
Out of the teams in the west, GSW are still the threat. They are the champs. They had a turnover on their bench. Losing Otto Porter, GPII should hurt them a bit. However, they managed to do some key replenishment in Dante DiVincenzo(albeit injured prone) is reliable on the perimeter and a bit of a defender. Plus they have the three young players in Wiseman, Kuminga, and Moody. However, the Warriors are getting older. Plus the Grizzlies did press them in the playoffs. In spite coming up short, the experience should serve as a teacher to help the Grizzlies grow wiser.
