GAME 25: OKC vs MEM

Morant with the triple double! I'm surprised JJJ wasn't more included on the offensive end. When they fed him he was great.

Santi’s 3pt shooting stroke is ridiculously quick and requires no body efforts or positioning - just hands above the head - for the entire process: from catching to shooting. If it’s sustainable, it’s a party killer.

My guess is that they intentionally limit JJJ’s time - what is now looks optimal for him and the team. As a heavy weapon JJJ is needed fresh and ready for key moments. That’s where his contribution is the most valuable. High volume offence is for Ja, not JJJ who spends lots of focus and energy on the defensive end.

I feel like now with Bane out is a great time to let him cook and build up his stamina. When we are fully healthy he can slide back down to the third option (or fourth if Dillon has a say). There will be playoff series where he has a matchup advantage and we need him to carry a bigger load on that end of the floor. Let him work on it now and just play him 1-2 minutes less a game if needed.

Well. You sound like he scores 10-12 pts per game, while he is making around 20 pts. It’s enough to keep him in a good shape and mood. If you give him 5-10 min more, he can easily score 30 I have no doubts.

Also, I suspect when JJJ is tired on offence, he starts making mistakes on defence and getting fouls. We don’t need that.

Again, we need JJJ staying healthy and being ready to play in clutch situations. To me, JJJ is about overall impact than scoring. Games are won by defence + offence not offence alone.

It seems like its really starting to click for JJJ. On offense, he's consistently using his size advantage when it's there to get shots near the rim instead of jacking up too many threes. On defense, it seems like his fouls are down as well. I say these things from simply the "eye test" - I've not looked up the stats to see if they back it up.
