Blow it up already

Post#1 » by durden_tyler » Sat Nov 11, 2023 6:20 am

These Grizzlies are embarrassing. Think long term already, explore everything. Trade Ja? At the right price maybe. Which current core has still value? We’re not tanking yeah, but we’ll likely end up with the Top 5 pick, not even sure there is a worthy talent in the next draft.

What do you do in this current sad state of Memphis?

It's been 2 underachieving post seasons, mindless substitutions and key roster changes that have destroyed locker room chemistry from a coach that would rather throw his players under the bus than admit he's crap at his job.

Never fear though cos Ja is gonna come back and ball out to lead a 20 game win streak...yeah right ?

It is 9 games and we are drowning in injuries. Injuries also derailed the post seasons past. It sucks but it is what it is. Jenkins needs a healthier team this season before he is fairly evaluated, but so far he hasn't been doing very well this season.

He had a healthy and stacked squad 2 seasons ago and did nothing with them.

That squad with The Villain, Slomo, DeMelton, CoJones etc was legit until Jenkins pulled Adams vs the Timberwolves and cratered any chance of going the distance.

He can't even coach Triple J to not foul or lose his rag. Couldn't coach Dillon to STFU and dribble nor Ja to not act like some bratty teen NWA.

The guy sets himself up to fail and blames others. Shoulda sacked him and promoted Coach Darko.

Just to make sure I understand you. Two years ago when Jenkins guided a team built around two 22 year year olds into the second round of the playoffs, had his star guard get injured in game 3, and then lost in 6 to the eventual champs. That's when he "did nothing"?

Steven Adams and the vibe guided that team to the playoffs. Jenkins was a passenger along for the ride. Coach Darko was calling the plays.

When Jenkins tried to impose himself and guide the team once they got to the playoffs the first thing he did in a total dick swinging move was to bench Adams and start Tillman.

Memphis barely scraped through against the wolves with Ja getting injured as Adams wasn't there to run interference for him.

When Jenkins realized his mistake and brought Adams back for the most 2nd round vs The Dubs, Adams had Covid and was literally running on fumes getting oxygenated during timeouts.

Jenkins is currently being exposed as a really bad coach while using Ja's absence as an excuse to throw the team under the bus.

Interesting. Jenkins guides a very young team to the second round, and you dismiss his contributions in favor of Steven Adams and "the vibe," yet Steven Adams goes down for the year three days prior to the season opener (and Ja is out and several others are in-and-out of the lineup) and Jenkins gets all the blame in your book -- nary a mention of "the vibe," or lack thereof, anywhere in 23-24.

I mentioned the vibe earlier. It's the essence team chemistry and camaraderie collectively exhibit and what defined NxtGenGrz.

Memphis doesn't have it anymore.
