Re: Woj: Ziaire dumped to BKN
Finally. At some point, I just got tired of adjusting/discussing his ceiling and expectations. Whatever.

It was for the best. We knew the move was coming for a while. Given Z's interrupted development and where the Grizzlies are right now, Z needs to dedicate himself to his development in hopes that he becomes a better player down the road. What type of player he will become, only Z knows. I wish him the best as he is a Net.

Are we waiving Diakate? Or we are keeping him as an end bench big, together with Huff, with whom he played in Virginia many years ago?

My thoughts with Diakite is that he will be waived. Especially now that Huff has been signed to a two-way contract.

Yeah, that’s the expectation. But now I think FO might decide to keep his contract as a tradable asset.

I think the goal is to dump his GTD onto another team with cash. I think that is the preferred way of moving on from him.

Yeah, but this route can be expensive compare to the likely benefit

No really, costs the owner a few hundred thousands over his GTD to dump him. Gives us more breathing room under the tax to sign Kennard and convert a guy like Pippen/Spencer or bring in another vet for that last roster spot.
We might wait until training camp has played out some to give him a look first and see if any vets get cut around the league.

1. What is GTD?
2. What team would agree to absorb 2+m at that price?

His contract is only Guaranteed for 1.4m of the 2.3. So we can give someone 1.8m in cash to waive him for us.
Plenty of teams have traded for players making this amount of money for cash considerations only. So anyone not in the tax that has space or a TPE or MLE left.

Re: Woj: Ziaire dumped to BKN
Safe to say he was a bust, as were a few other picks a year after him. GG and this year's picks have been solid though.
