Both Ja Morant and Buddy Hield were issued warnings from the NBA for making the gun gestures during the Tuesday night's game between the Grizzlies vs. Warriors.

This is focused on Morant allegedly making the gun gesture again after hitting the game winner over the Miami Heat on Thursday night. Morant may face a potential fine from the league after he was previously warned for making the gesture from Tuesday's night game vs. the Warriors in the 135-124 loss.

Dumb all the way around. I'm not sure who is dumber: the NBA for issuing the warning or Ja for disregarding it.

The thing is that Ja needs to mind the optics. He went through two suspension two seasons ago. These recent brush ups proven that he's under a microscope. Granted the gestures were not done in a threatening way. He has to be smart here and avoid catching these fades. However, if Ja is catching the heat for the gun gestures. Will the NBA follow suit on other players who made gun gestures via warnings or fines as well.? After all, if Ja was warned and fined, so should other players who have done gun gestures while play is ongoing. Perhaps take a step further to ban the gesture if it's going to be a problem going forward.

Ja has to be smart and not antagonize the situation, but what a dumb position the NBA has put themselves in. Finger guns happen literally every game. Buddy Hield who was warned with Ja did them last night just like Ja did, but no fine for him. They need to either say Finger guns aren't okay for anyone or just leave Ja alone. He has been doing that celebration all season, along with half the league, but game 76 it suddenly is an issue for the league. I don't get why the league wants to draw attention away from the awesomeness that is the final playoff push teams are doing with only a few games left and then the playoffs themselves by highlighting past issues of one of their stars.
